I'm still looking for my first boat. I found a 1999 ProStar that's a v-drive and I can probably get it for 18K. It has 330 hours on it and it looks to be in great shape. Just wondering what folks think about the boat and if the price seems to be somewhat acceptable. Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

Seems a little high to me, but all depends on the condition, maintenance, etc. Before you even consider buying, have the boat thoroughly checked out by a professional and do an extended water test.

It really depends on the condition of the boat and engine. you said it looks to be in pretty good condition? have you water tested it... seen it in person? Engine? Options: PP, tower, ballast? What about associated shipping costs? Maintenance records?
I bought almost the same boat this year, 2005 X2 (same hull). If its in good shape its a good deal, great all-around boat. A smaller boat, but throw 3000lb of ballast and a few people in it and it'll throw you an awesome wake. I dont slalom but i've had it at 32/36 unloaded and the wakes are pretty flat.
Just be prepared to B.reak O.ut A.nother T.housand. but hey, what's money when you're havin the time of your life.

a great proven hull and a great boat. not sure on the engine that year, predator?

i would disagree with arch on the price, but that's just my opinion and really depends on the condition.

would definitely pay to have it checked out, work it into the sale, would also water test.

have the trailer and braking systgem checked out too. have you seen it, or just an add(s)?

if you plan on wakeboarding, figure about $2K (i think) for a new dimension tower (to stay stock) and about another $1500-2500 for auto ballast depending on how much of it you do on your own. you could get setup with 3 or 4 fly high sacs and a pump or two for about a $1000 and plumb it later.

pics?

iViva 205V!

Nice, that's it. Can you guys tell what kind of waketower that is? I'm gonna need a cover if I get it, so can I get one to fit around that tower? I'm just getting into wakeboarding and the only thing I've been behind is my three seater jetski, so I'm won't be too picky as far as ballast and all that. Thanks for the suggestions guys

Basically just like my 99 X-Star with a nicer tower and stereo system. Looks like a New Dimension tower so a regular Mastercraft cover should fit. Sounds like a decent price if really in the condition the owner described. I would have it checked out by a qualified mechanic just to be sure. Especially compression check the engine. Sounds like it has the LTR if he is quoting 330 hp.

BTW - this is my first boat and I love it - you will be very happy with it.

I've got this boat, and I think it's great for the money. I got mine about 4 years ago for $20k and I plumbed in a home made ballast system for about $500 ( I already had some bags and pumps from my last boat).

Mine had 330 hours when I bought it and I am at 653 hours now.

The boat has been solid. The only problem that I had was a busted driveplate at about 500 hours. I wakeboard and wakesurf and I don't believe the stock drive plate on these was designed to handle these the ballast load that these require. When I had it fixed, it was upgraded to a newer style that is much more substantial.

My biggest gripes are minor. I would like a three piece rear hatch and full wrap around seating, but I'll gladly sacrifice those things for world class wakes on the cheap.

i'd get my checkbook while i grabed the phone to call the guy to ask for more pics.

but that's just me. ;)

looks clean. not a fan of gold (is that what that is on the transom?)

you could totally make that boat yours.

looks clean, but be sure to ask for all the vinyl shots and the carpet too.

clean as they say, it will go fast. or maybe not. water test it and have it looked over.

good luck
