Hi guys, boat has been sitting for a while and want to make sure it fires up, can you guys tell me where exactly the raw water intake is on an 06' X-Star to hook up a fake-a-lake.

Just take a look under your boat, there is a brass strainer mounted on the hull that looks a tad bit like a scoop, thats where your fake a lake goes. I understand that a few of the late model boats have a plastic strainer, so keep an eye out for that as well.

Thanks burner...is the raw water intake blocked by the trailer bunk on an 06' x-star?

Make sure you get the correct one and not the ballast intake. Don't ask me how I know...:D

On my X-1, it's the flat brass one, NOT the round slotted one.

oh by the way it is a x-star SS...is there anything i need to do differently with the fake-a-lake or would it be the same?

Wouldn't that mean that you have a closed cooling system?

Yea it's a closed cooling system, so can i still use a fake a lake to start the boat out of water?

Yes, you can run it out of the water with a fake a lake. The raw water intake you are looking for can be found by looking at the motor, on the front, is the impeller and follow the hose to the hull, then go under the boat and attach the fake a lake( there is a brass clam shell). Turn on the water as high as it will go and MAKE SURE WHILE IT'S RUNNING THAT WATER IS COMING OUT THE EXHAUST. Also keep an eye on your temp gauge. Closed cooling still uses lake water it just doesn't go through the block it goes through a heat exchanger.

i will have this on every boat i ever own. much better than a fake a lake plunger. well worth the couple of extra bucks.

I read this today and it is the opposite on my 2004 X-star. It ran for maybe one minute while i was thinking "why isn't any water coming out of my exhaust?" I shut it down, switched over to the slotted intake and that was the trick. Ran it for about 15 minutes with the temperature sitting on 160 for the last 12 minutes or so. Any chance my impeller is a goner? Or do you think a 15 minute test is pretty good indication that the impeller didn't get toasted?

I installed the same thing, and also ran a 5' hose from Flush-Pro to under the seat for easy access...

Go metal or brass.
