I was reading a thread by milkmania and I came up with this idea. We have a thread on Newbie's Lets See Your Boats, Lets See Your X Boats.
Well how about this.

We don't want to share our lake, we tell everyone it is too shallow to use. :D Some times the more isn't the merrier!!

I just thought it would be a neat idea to list the location of the lakes you go to.
No biggie if you want to keep it a secret I understand.

I just downloaded Google Earth and have been palying around with it. Seems pretty cool, but requires broadband and quite-a-bit of PC resources.
Tims Ford lake is the one on the bottom.

Ours is too hard to see with all the stumps, mocossins, gators, and sewage in the water. Nothing to see here.
As is a popular expression in my family, Lake O' the Pines is a great place to ski.

We have tons of zebra mussels. They are attached to almost everything here in upstate NY. Diving the other day and pulled up a plastic adirondack chair that had blown in and lost a year ago. It weighed about 40 or 50 lbs with the mussels on it where normally I don't think they weight more than 6 or 7 lbs. The mussels are a true nuisance,,, get cut easily from them also.

Yup, I read about them on the *gasp* Malibu boats forums..
Sounds like they are a real PITA.. glad they haven't made their way down to nebraska yet..
I guess in Canada they make you spray down your boat and trailer with something that will kill them before you can leave the dock.
I wonder if the critters would live through a Nebraska winter..

Yeah, Google Earth is a bit slow because it doesn't have much on the hard drive. It streams everything. I have visited the Great Pyramids, Eiffel Tower, Las Vegas, Moscow, London, my hometown in Iowa, ect. all this morning. Very cool program!
I tried to get World Wind to work on my home PC last night but couldn't. Said I didn't have the latest version of DirectX. I had just downloaded 9 so I am not sure what is going on. I will mess with it some more tonight.
I have London pulled up on Google Earth right now. Where do I head Sizzler?
EDIT:
Set Google Earth to use DirectX. It is a little faster than OpenGL.

Here's where mine is now, hopefully I"ll find a better site soon.
Can you find a picture of it?
N 30°013'
W 085°043'
Used to be on Lake Conway near downtown Orlando (no coordinates but a local address is Bayfront Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32806. Beautiful clear water with a ski course, but a lot of PWCs and wakeboarders (no offense guys, it's just big waves aren't good for slalom skiing!). I guess you don't realize how good you've got it until it's gone...

The measure function of Google Earth is very good for runners to measure a course.
Also in pointer mode you can measure altitude change over distance for biking races like the Hilly Hundred we have in Bloomington.

A second vote for Lake Mead. Had to use Google maps, couldn't download Google Earth. Apparently you guys maxed out the server. ;)

Woodcliff Lakes, just outside of Fremont, Nebraska.
About 420 Houses on the Lake total. Marina with gas and stuff.. darn good time.. makes you forget about everything.
Here is a quick route I made from GPS collected during evening and morning skis a few weeks back, over some orthophotos.

Yeah, that's it! Our house was on the little bay that sticks up past the very top edge of the photo. The ski course is on the north side of the two islands in the lake (public access everyone, but get there early to beat the traffic/wakes!).
Man I miss that place.

That's it (Panama City). Salt water, but actually usually pretty flat. The part at the northeast end is actually fresh water separated by a dam. I'm going to explore that one day -- hopefully there will be slalom course.
Anyway, the beaches are excellent and the fishing is great.
Thanks for posting the pictures guys! :toast:

Yipee! Thanks...yes it is one of these. From the right...two lakes by the road side are Creekside Lakes, then the next two (dark blue with runway inbetween) are Paradise Lakes, the next three smaller lakes are Ski West Village (they are dry right now due to renovation), the next is Precision Lake, then ours, 7th Heaven. After that there is Adobe Lake, and the last lake is the sespool out there called Ironwood. Anything behind that are fish ponds. The guy is thinking of opening a levee up to make another lake. Not sure when...just rumors. B

Those are the two lakes that Banana George built a few years back and the project flopped. The water wouldn't hold. Then another guy purchased the project, fixed them somehow and developed them. One lake is Anna and the other Banana. Not sure which is which. B

I totally understand The lake I ski on gets way too crowded and I wish it was not the only nice freshwater lake in the area.
