'03 x30.

4 clarion cm1632 tower speakers are toast. cones look like swiss cheese. wanting to go with jl audio 650 speakers. crutchfield states that they offer m650 which are narrow flange (ie bolt hole pattern is smaller) and mx650 which are regular size 6.5 speaker bolt hole patterns. anybody know which I need to go with?

after looking at the pic I snapped this weekend, I'm thinking they do use the narrow pattern.

Im trying to replace mine in my 04 xstar. What did you finally use?

Used the JL Audio 650's. Had to drill new holes. Pattern was larger than pre-drilled ones. They have tweeter built in, so I disconnected the Clarion. Look great, sound great.

Thanks Big B, I'm replacing all the speakers in the boat and am concerned about leaving the old tweets in, would like to replace. Anyway....

I used the JL 650's in my clarion cans, also. They sound good (for what they are) and look good, too.

They look great, but what did you do about the 1 inch tweeter hole? It looks as though you took off the mount on the tower? Also, I'm replacing all the speakers and will have a hole in the boat, where there was a cutout for the tweeter.

Wish MC would have used a coaxial speaker in the first place.

Yeah, I removed the pod on the speaker cans and found a black plastic plug at the hardware store that worked perfect to conceal the hole.

Why not step up to the 7.7" JL's for the cockpit with the tweeters? They will sound much better than your Clarions.

Thanks, can you post a picture of the black plastic plug? We have a home depot and a radio shack and that's it.
