View Full Version : NASCAR Fuel Cell

While I was watching the NASCAR yesterday, I saw a explanation how the fuel cells that are used on road courses are designed to get almost every last ounce out of the tank.
The design is rather clever where there is a separate chamber within the fuel cell that houses the fuel pickup and there are (check valves) trap doors on the sides of this chamber that will let the fuel in, but not back out.

Then I got thinking about the fuel pump problems on the newer boats where you have to keep the tanks almost half full or you run the chance of frying the fuel pump.

I wonder if a tank similar to the NASCAR tank has been looked into?

I tried to find a youtube video of the segment I saw yesterday, without any lucků.
