I am having issues with my ballast. My rear ballast was not filling so I started trouble shooting and now the center will no fill either. I can hear the pumping but the sacks are not filling. Any ideas? Anyone know where the pumps are located on a 03 X9?

Your impellers are fried. Could be the pumps, but hopefully not. I don't know where your pumps are located, but after you find the pumps remove the 3 brass screw and inspect the impellers. My guess is that the splines are gone. Assuming you have the same pumps as me?

Thats what I was afraid. I found a thread of diesel's that shows location, so I think I'll dive into it today. Thanks for the help!

If it's your impellers, replace with the yellow or green impellers. Don't forget to turn them off and you should be good. If it's the pump(s), check to make sure the new pumps have the yellow or green impellers. It still could be the pump(s) if the impellers are OK. Leave the brass cover off while inspecting the impellers and hit the pump switch ON, if the pump makes noise, but the impeller doesn't go anywhere, you need a new pump. Had this happen to me last year........

Finally had a free weekend to dig into this. I took the brass plate off and the impellars are good as new. I hit the switch with the covers off and they spin fine but im still not getting water to my sacks. Any ideas? Thanks!

I had that problem last year in my X1 with my center ballast. It turned out the fat sac had a plug of plastic in it. The company replaced it for free and said it almost never happens. IF you can unhook the hose going to the bag and fill it easily with poured water then you eliminate a problem with the hose and sac.

We have a 01 X9. I'll provide comments of the 01 model, but I'm not sure if the 03 is the same. On the 01 model two pumps are under the fuel tank that fill the front and rear sacs. The empty pumps are located elsewhere. I have two intake on/off valves, where the manual control for the valves is in the center of the rear locker under the sun pads. If the valves are closed, no water gets into the system. If it's the same on the 03, then I'd check there. The valve handles have to be rotated counterclock wise to open. Also, mine was prone to air traps which would prevent the pumps from operating. I rerouted the hose to eliminate the air traps, so the problem went away. To see if it's an airtrap issue, when the boats in the water disconnect the intake hoses at the sacs and provide some sort of vacuum in the hoses to draw up the water. If the pumps start working, then that's the problem.

I found one of my hoses kinked, so be sure to follow the hose all the way to the through hull and make sure it is free of any kinks.

I don't know if it does, but look for a shutoff valve near the through hole.?.
