I have a 1991 Maristar 240. The book says it has a 52 gallon capacity tank and by its size I believe it. But my fuel gauge(which works well) will show full when i top of tank and then will show empty even though it only takes about 22 gallons to fill. Do they intentionally mean for me to have approx. 30 gallons not registering on gauge. Any help will be appreciated.

If it's a 1991, by now it probably needs the fuel sender replaced for it to read correctly throughout the gauge and tank.
Replacements can be found at a dealer, http://www.skidim.com/products.asp?dept=1088 and here, http://www.isspro.com/special.php, among others
