Worthing skier

Hi Guys
I have 1993 Prostar 190 , all running fine .
I would like to be able to check on the stuffing box and shaft through out the season for obvious reasons , however there is no quick and easy way to do this without lifting the floor panel .
I am thinking fitting an inspection hatch in the floor .
Has anyone done this and does it weaken the honeycombe alloy floor panel .
Many thanks
Kevin
