I have 1994 MC 190. First year for TBI.

Do these boats have 'Gel Coat' ??

I am trying to restore the shine and luster of the hull colors and want to do it right.

any suggestions ??

All fiberglass boats have gel coat. The gel coat is put into the mold first to give the finish, then the glass is laid over it (well, under when the mold is released.)

Wet sand, polish, wax

I put some good detail on how to bring back the shine in gelcoat from wetsanding through polishing in my refurb thread. I tried to include all of the tools and materials that I used as well.

Starting on page 7 is when I describe most of the work to bring the gelcoat back to life.

Craig - great call on the use of mold armor. I just purchased a '94 prostar so I read through your thread earlier today.

The upholstry had a pretty good sized black spot on the back that the previous owner couldn't figure how to get rid of. I happened to have some of the mold armor mildew deck wash on hand. I put some on the stain figuring it can't make it look any worse. Most of it dissapeared in minutes.

Question on the wetsanding because I've got some serious fading that I want to take care of this fall/winter. Did you use the circular polisher with a sandpaper attachment or did you do that step by hand?
