I have an 01 190. The oil pressure guage has since it was new displayed very little oil pressure when at idle. When the rpm went up the pressure did too. Last night the guage showed no pressure at all. My daughter noticed it when she was pulling me. I had her shut it down and we started to check it out. I find no signs of low oil pressure other than the guage. This weekend we have a crowd scheduled to be at the lake for the 4th. I cannot have this boat in the shop for the next month. Either for a new guage or because I ran it with no oil pressure.

Anyone have any input.

Thanks.

Who is your guage made by. Most not all Faria's have a limited lifetime warranty. Dealer can get you a new guage. If not Faria check with skidim.com, MYMC, Rambo's, for a new guage.

What was your pressure reading?

Have you checked your oil level to be sure nothing is low?

The sending unit could be bad, which would probably negate a trip to the dealer most likely.

I would presume you would be OK as long as you periodically checked your oil and maintained that same level.

I would contact the dealer and see if they have any idea's.

Thanks Guys,

Everything checks out good. Is it not safe to think if the pressure was at all low the lifters would start knocking. I use to be a pretty fair mechanic. I have been out of that for so many years and I have not kept up with the new technology. But I think a 350 block is still a 350 block. Is that not true?

George I do not know the brand of guage. I think 01 was the year they came out with some kind of new guage. I seem to remember something like that. Maybe Medallion. Not sure.

I would suspect the oil pressure sender is bad. I would suggest replacing the sender. If the results with a new sender are the same, have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge to verify what the oil pressure really is.

I have had similar issue with the gauge bouncing around. I check the oil level everyday before we go out to be safe.

Sometimes I will start the boat and it will read low, and then jump up when we get going. I have gotten used to it and checking everyday ensures that we at least have oil and that it's pumping in the engine.

You can safely open the oil fill cap and look in as the motor is running, just to make sure it is pumping.

Thanks for that. I think so. She has a twin sister and they both are three event skiers.
