Has anyone found any stick on Rubber pads to put on the back of the boat to protect the back of the boat from getting scratched up by wakeboards . It would be for an 06 X-Star

Yep! Place hand on rubber, trace outline, and cut out. Use this to slap anyone who let's there board his your boat... no excuses!

Sorry forgot the... ;) but seriously no real excuse for boards hitting the boat. Maybe a surf board when a riders loses it... but not a wakeboard.

I bought a pad from seadek.com last fall. I think it's a very high quality product, but I had a lot of problems with delays and getting the pad cut the right size/shape. My pad is roughly 72" by 18", and cost about $180. I didn't find any other sources.

i bought a few for my 84 s&s. i have seen them at walmart and at harbor freight. they are only a couple of bucks a piece. they are 4 inch by 17 inch i think. they are crude but effective! not to mention cheap!

I ordered the 4" wide rubber pad from Seadek, but I returned it because the grey didn't look good on my black transom.

So I found this from Graingers (under $40 for 2 pieces)

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/search.shtml?searchQuery=1600-1%2F4ytape&op=search&Ntt=1600-1%2F4ytape&N=0&sst=subset

1/4" thick, 4 " wide 36" long. I ended up cutting each piece so I could install 2 pieces in the center of the transom and there is a seam in the middle. I then used the leftover smaller pieces to do the ends. (Since an X-star does not have a "straight" transom, it indents in the middle)

So far it's holding up really well, the 3M tape on the back is really strong. And it's black so it's not that noticable on my black boat.

I'll get some quick cell pics of it today for you magnum.

Wicked Wakes used to make a nice transom saver but their site is down. Also heard people using gator grip and some people use the following 3M paint bra:

Some cell phone pics of the Grainger's product on my X-star.

I tried the 3M clear film last year. It works ok but the corners of the x-star get beat-up the worst and the clear film was ready to be replaced only after one year. This 1/4" thick rubber should last alot longer. You can spray it with tire shine/armorall to keep it looking shiny.

The dealer can order the trailer/swim platform Mastercraft black mat from MC. We did that to an X-star and it all looked great

I just had mine Rhino lined. Cost $250 but looks great and will last forever. Did all of the top and sides.

Funny you should mention this. I've never had that problem until this past weekend. My 17 old son had a bunch of his friends up and one of them was all excited because he couldn't wait to wakeboard. He put the board on, stood up, and tried to dive off of the platform. When he did, the board slipped out and smacked the transom. Didn't seem to bother him a bit and my wife just looked at me because she knew my blood was boiling. I guess I should have told everyone NOT to dive off the boat with the board on, but it's never been done before.

How slick is this when it is wet?

I got a roll of the black material from my dealer that is on the fiberglass swim steps and stuck it the transome. I used 3M VHB (Very High Bond) sheet adhesive I got off Ebay. It works great and looks even better.

It's not as "grippy" as the original but I wouldn't consider it to be slick. Only had it one weekend but I was standing on it when several large waves rocked the boat. I didn't slip or have any uneasy feelings. Family thinks it is great and much better than tracking black all over the back of the boat.
