Sorry if this goes up twice. Can anybody tell me what boat would be better for wakeboarding behind, Tristar or Prostar. The ideal boat that I think I want is the Tristar 220 some where between the 1988 and 1992 year range. I like the wrap around seating. What do ya'll think.
Thanks

I've never been in one, but from what I have read on here the tristar would have to be better wake for wakeboarding, but it has some other bad traits. THe pix I have seen of those boats look nice to me also.

Tri Star for wake boarding. It has a good wake for that, put in a fat sak or two and a tower it will be very good, and a good value for the money. The wake is not very good for runing a salom course and the boat can have some tracking problems with a strong salom skier as it will get pulled around. I have a tristar 190 and the boys prefer it to a prostar of the same vintage for footing do to the wide flat table on the curl at 38 to 44 mph. Either way you will not be disapointed.:)

The Tristar is going to have about 2' less interior because the swimstep is actually part of the hull. I don't think they ever had skegs on the bottom so a big rider can pull it around a bit. Also, some of the Tristars had a swivel spotter's seat.
The Prostars were never made 22' long, but maxed out at 20'6". But since the swimstep is a bolt on, there is more room in the back of the boat for seating, fat sacks, etc. The skegs on the bottom make this boat drive like it's on rails.
Their both pretty flat bottom boats so the wakes should be pretty similar. I've riden behind several of each but never back to back.

The TriStar does have skegs or tracking fins, at least mine does. It has a deeper V in the front and the back is differnt then the prostar. I also know from experience with both boats that the prostar wake is softer and flatter.
The Tristar is also a wider boat than the prostar, but you do give up some room do to the integrated swim platform.

A prostar will generally have better resale. Anything built before 84 will have wooden stringers so stay behind there.

thanks for the help guys. I think I will go with the tristar. Hopefully at the end of the summer I'll have it. I have a Sunbird 198 I/O with a Mostertower that will get me by until I'm a Mastercraft owner. I can hardly wait!

I have a TriStar 22'. I also have the 454 cu in engine in it and has a great wake 22-27 mph. I dont have the fins on the bottom and a good strong skier can pull it a little. I've only had it a few months now and its been great.
