Hey guys i was getting ready to order my gt-40p heads and looked at a couple different sites and the sites listed the same head but different valve sizes so, could someone tell me if this link is the correct link to the head i need. It is an 89 Prostar 190 with the 351w. Thanks a lot guys. Im ready to order and start building this thing.

There are some listed in ebay as new take offs, whatever that means. Those from Tristate have a good reputation but are rebuilds, not that there is anything wrong with that, but IF you can get them NOS, why not? I ordered some NOS unbuilt from ebay for 200.

Yes....those are the heads you want. You will have to get the bolt holes drilled out to 1/2 inch though (the heads fit right on the 351 block but are off a 302 that uses smaller diameter bolts). I bought my heads through Clearwater Cylinder Heads and they drilled out the holes and put in brass/bronze freeze plugs at no additional charge. You might want to give them a call @ 1-800-572-1963.

Thanks alot for the info man i will give them a try and see what they say. Have you been relatively happy with the upgraded heads??? Did u also do the intake and cam upgrade or just heads?

I've been happy with the gains I've gotten from the upgrades. Along with the heads, I put on an intake, Edelbrock Performer and played with jetting and timing. I have a new distributor to put in to give me a bit more total advance than the stock distributor allows. I haven't done anything with the cam.

Without the aftermarket distributor was you kind of limited tuning it to the max of where you wanted to be with the parts?

Yep.....that's pretty much it. I could advance the timing to get more top end but then I had problems when starting with too much advance (hard cranking) and worried about detonation under acceleration. With the new distributor, I'll be able to get more total advance and keep my 10 degree BTDC initial timing.

Oh i see, i didnt know if there might be problems certain problems with stock components like that i might run into or not. Good stuff to know though.
