I need to tighten the prop shaft gland on my 91 Maristar 210. There does not seem to be an access provided for it so I need to remove the rear center section of the floor. To do so the rear seat needs to be removed. In order for the rear seat to be removed the seat back cusions need to be removed to get at the remaining screws that are holding the rear seat in place. I have gently pulled on the the back cusions but they don't seem to want to come loose. Am I going about this wrong? Other inboards I have owned always had an access to the gland area.

On my Maristar 200 there isn't much room to adjust the packing even if I remove the middle section of the back seat, I just take out the seat cushion and reach under the transmission to adjust it, it is a very tight fit. My seat may not be the same as yours, but I leave the cushion attached to the back of the seat and remove the whole fiberglass section. I just lift out the seat cushion, remove the two screws attaching the base to the floor, then raise the motor cover and remove the two screws that hold the middle section to each side. Then i just pick up the whole fiberglass seat with the back cushion still attached.

The cushion on the back seat are held on by screws that are accessible through the flip up cushion on the back of the boat. I think there are four of them, you will also need to pull the doghouse and the whole back seat {after the cushions come off]. It will take about thirty minutes to take apart, and ten to put back together. I have the same boat so if you need anymore help, i will be glad to help.

You don't have to remove the rear seat actually, just remove the dog house and undo the bolts from the bench portion that screw into the floor (should only be the two in the center). The center section of the floor should slide forward and you will then have access to the shaft seal. Least, this was the case on my '90 210.

On my 92 I never had to remove the rear seat.
The part of the floor that the motor box is screwed had to come out and all the screws that hold the lower part of the rear seart to the floor have to be removed. Once all of these screws were out I removed the motor cover, just to get it out of the way, then lift up on the rear sear fiber glass so I could pull out that small part of floor to expose the log pack area.
