New radio time.. Which do I want?

Currently have a Clarion XMD1, im looking at either the Clarion CMD6 or Alpine CDA 118m. With either unit - im looking at needing an adapter plate for the mounting and will also have to replace the transom remote.
Ill likely use my ipod more than anything which is leaning me a bit towards the Alpine unit since they have the speedy interfase...

Anyone have opinions...thoughts...?

Although I'm not familiar with either of the particular models you're looking at, I would recommend the Alpine. The iPod integration is perfect! Also, I've never experienced a simpler interface aftermarket head-unit. Most of the Pioneers, Kenwoods and JVC head units in the past have needed a 16 hr class to turn it on! I have the new CMD6 and love it. The new remote interface works flawlessly and the USB feature has changed the way we bring music on the boat. We no longer carry any CDs and friends that bring their iPODs can listen to their music in seconds. Clarion offers the M309 which has all the same features as the CMD6 but in a single din format and would be a direct replacement for your existing head unit. The existing harness should plug directly into the new receiver. If you have remotes now the remotes and wiring to them would need to be replaced.

I have an alpine with the ipod interface in my car. charges, and plays it. works awesome!!
