I just bought a 2007 X-15ss with the 6.0L Crusader engine. first few times out i had no problem at all withe the temp. now if i run it at or over 40mph for 3 to 5 min the engine starts to over heat gauges flashing Temp 203 Temp 203 or 202. then i slow the boat down to about 25mph and the temp with drop back down to normal running temp between 160-190 within 30 seconds. ( i run the boat in fresh water river) does any one have any idea what could be causing this?
(oil and coolant levels are all full, and the raw water strainer is not clogged)

Have you replaced the raw water impeller recently?

i have not, i just got the boat two months ago. it has a little over 300 hours on it. im not sure if and when it was ever replaced if it was. but you think that would make it over heat when its at high speeds/RPM but not at low speed.

Yes it very well could. Engine is making alot more heat at 5k rpms full load than say 3500rpms.

Ok Great hopefully thats all it is. Can you recommend a site i can order one from? and are there diffrent sizes for each engine or is it all pretty much a standard size for the raw water impeller?

Also check to see if a Flushwater Pro was installed in the inlet hose, it might be jammed. I know Thrall had an issue with his, took it out and he ran fine...iirc....:)
