cam...i had the tower boom new with my X9........it cracked the tower twice and i had to have it re-welded.....
and yes....the wires were correctly tensioned.....i swapped mine back for a new pylon boom with my dealer......

The tower it will be used on is pretty much indestructible. I think the tower will tear off the boat before it fails.

I am going to wait a while to see if I can get it on the used market. I don't need the boom until July, but thought I would start my search early.

What diameter is the tower? Tower Boom comes in three different models (difference is the range of diameter towers each will work on).

I had the same problem recently with my tower (http://mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=35725) and there wasn't a boom involved.
