I noticed a very faint noise from the front of the engine while running the boat in the driveway with the engine box up. It sounds like it could be some bearing noise fromt the water pump or the raw water pump (Indmar 351 Ford). I also noticed that sometimes a little water will drip from the raw water pump. Although I also noticed that the screws on the cover of it also came loose for some reason which may have caused the small amount of water that would leak. Anyway, is there any good way of diagnosing which of the two pumps may be going bad? The noise isn't too bad, so it's hard to tell which one it might be. I also don't notice any wobble in the pulleys at all.
I would check those screws every so often and I'm sure that is why you have water leaking.
Is it sort of a humming noise? Maybe, the impellar needs greased? You may want to just go ahead and change it out if it's been a while. Once a year is what I do.
Are you going to the St. Johns River Run?

It is a humming noise which is why I thought it was the actual engine water pump. My impellar has about 6 hours on it, I put it in a few months ago, so I don't think that is a problem. I'll have to investigate further.
As far as the St. John's run, I was going to go the first time, but I have to go to Gainesville for school on the rescheduled weekend undortunately.

Did this start after you changed the raw water impeller??
I had that happen with a brand new impeller. It sounded like a bearing and did it at idle, pick up the rpm a little and the noise would go away. Changed it out and that was the end of it. It may have worked just fine but I wasn't taking any chances.

I don't think so, I've had it out a few times since I noticed it with the new impeller. I personally think it's the water pump, but I could be wrong.
