Have a seller telling me TN doesn't use titles on boats.

Seems shady to me, but crazier things have happened-

True?

Doesn't sound too shady. I'm registered in NH and NH does not title boats. Reg. serves as title. Someone will be along to confirm TN I'm sure.

Correct no titles in the state of TN. In many states boats do not have to be titled.

ksdaoski, this is true. I live in Murfreesboro TN and you do not have to title a boat here. To register it you just need proof of sale. I would run the hull #'s to make sure it isn't stolen and ask him a few questions like how long they had it? If they are the second or third owner, did the previous owners supply a titile? Good luck. BTW, what are you looking at getting?

I bought my 07 X2 from a dealer in TN last year and indeed there was no title. I used this site to get a full history on the boat.....

https://www.boathistoryreport.com/

Then made sure I got a receipt that included serial numbers of the boat and trailer. I also had them add the weight of the boat and trailer just in case I needed it for the title in Michigan. This was a good move as I needed the weight to title the trailer. If you go this route get as much information on what you're buying on the receipt as possible. It never hurts to have more information than you need.

Lotsa states don't title boats. No boat titles in NM or CO either.

Are you say boat trailer title or boat title?

Are you saying boat trailer title or boat title? NC requires a trailer title and license tags, but a boat title to go along with the registration is optional if you have a Certificate of Origin to present them. TN does not require a trailer to be licensed, therefore probably no title required either.

Opps, sorry, no input here, I misread the tit-le of this thread.

I was going to say there are Hooters in TN.

If you live in Tn you don't even have to put a license plate on the trailer. I paid to get a permanant tag since we drag it out of the state and I don't like giving hwy. patrol any reason for a road-side visit.

no titles for trailer and/or boat....

bill of sale gets you registered with the state of TN

not sure the best way one would research to see if there is a lein on the craft that you are purchasing or how all that works since there is no titles...
