I was using my grease gun over the weekend and it dawned on me that I had a messy grease gun and had no good way of storing it other than the crappy wrapping I had it placed in. And at best, there was still grease on the wrapper, the hose was subject to flopping around, and the pump handle was subject to retraction only to pump grease when it was not desired.....
Just looking for suggestions or pics of someone's better idea on how one may store the grease gun.

You know we could give you a better answer had you posted a pic of your grease gun! I would appreciate it if you had your lovely assistant in the picture! Just kidding! Man I bet you guys hate it when I am drinkin! Once the grease is done spewing, wipe it off with a paper towel and store the greaase gun with a marker cap over the end. Sounds cool any way!

It seems like mine is always ozzing out grease somewhere.
I stick it in an old plastic tub and slide it under the workbench.

I stick one of those plastic/vinyl covers (the kind you put on the end of a bolt or nut to protect the threads and to protect people from getting scratched by it) over the end to prevent it from dripping grease and to protect it from getting dirty. I've used those on the ends of practically all the exposed bolts/screws on my trailer as well.

I just wipe mine off and hang it on the peg board. Zero mess so far.

I use a sharpie to lable the guns in regards to their base grease; lithium and calcium carbonate, and store in a large zip lock bag then in a small cardboard box.

Thank you fine folks.
I am ashamed to show a pic of my grease pit... LOL.... I couldn't begin to hang mine on the peg board... LOL... It's a mess. Oh how I am shamed by the mess I have here... :D :D
About 5 years ago, I bought a case of bottled water. The cardboard bottom and the thick plastic wrapper were left over. Bear in mind the wrapper surrounds the cardboard. I thought, "Perfect!" I placed the gun in the box, folded the hose down to catch the inside of the plastic. The handle is free to move when I move the box or pick up the gun. It leaks grease a bit from getting hot. Over the years, the box is now grease-soaked, discolored, and the gun is a slick and slimey mess, and I don't even like touching the box unless I have to... OH - MY _ GOSH! It isn't the end of my world but I couldn't imagine having a clean grease gun...
Thanks again all. I now have a few ideas for storage.

Embarassed to say, mines stored in a make shift plastic bag held together with duct tape. Funny thing is my Dad gave me his old one 2 weeks ago and he too stored his in a make shift bag held together with duct tape also...like father like son I guess.
So far plastic container under work bench sounds the best, although I'm conserned as I typically bring it with me on long distance trips.

I have the handle of the grease gun duct taped to the body of the grease gun, and the hose taped to that! stays pretty clean.
