I want to add some skirts to my factory cover in order to combat the UV rays on the hull. I'm thinking of buying a 10 x 20 tarp, cutting in in half and then hanging it off the sides through the grommets. Anyone done this? Is it fine to use one of the cheap blue tarps? should I use a canvas tarp? Or maybe one of the mesh ones? The boat is kept on a lift and I just want something cheap that can be left on for a few months to protect from the sun.

I've seen two ways to do this. One friend has a snap on cover. he bought some Sunbrella off of ebay and installed double sided snaps. He snaps on the skirt, then he can put the cover right on top.

Another friend, installed a strip of velcro on inside of his cover and he attaches the skirt with that. He has a strap type cover.

Both of them use sunbrella and you can find it fairly cheap on ebay. You'll probabaly be able to match your existing cover as well.
