View Full Version : Price on new 09 x2??

Just curious what everyone thinks would be a great deal on a new 09 x-2 with mcx and loaded tower with 4 speakers? Want to make an offer on one. Think it stickers just south of 90k?
What are these bringing right now? It's brand new at a dealer.
What is a realistic offer?

Thanks,
Jake

$59k would be a good starting point

Are people getting them bought for that?? ^^^
dude mentioned upper 60's.

$90k for an X2?! Don't know whether to laugh at that or cry at how messed up the boat industry is if they think an X2 is priced right at $90k. $60k seems ridiculously high to me even. I would have guessed X2s were going for around $55k new right now.

I dont know what man. I paid 40k for my used 06 last summer, thought I got a pretty good deal?
Maybe the numbers are way off for the 09, thats what I am asking here. I figure everyone on here has seen a few new ones and what they are going for.

Edited to add: Just looked in the market place and there are a few used 2007 X-2's ranging from 53-56k. Thats used, so I am assuming the numbers are not off for a new 09 being in the mid to high 60's loaded.

Thanks!

90k sounds really high to me. I got my 08 in nov 08 and the dealer was asking 64k and it was loaded. After some dealing we got the boat for less. It was a demo boat but only had 26 hrs and was just like buying a brand new boat. I did see the msrp on the boat was around 85k.

i think he is referring to the dealer's paper invoice, and not there asking price.

sticker on my 07 x2 with the rtp:rolleyes:, 2 tower speakers, heater and so forth was 77K. of course not what i paid for it.

I got the same boat. I would go in and out in an offer in the high 50's, Maybe 60K. Newer X-2's come with the tower camera and surf tabs. Things the 09's don't have. So that's something to take into consideration. Good luck.

Yes I am referring to the msrp sticker price which unless you wipe with $100 bills is obviously not what you pay.

I will do some calling around today and see what folks have them priced at. Thanks everyone for your input!

Remember, those are asking prices, not sale prices. Figure those are at least 20% over market. Didn't someone just sell an 07 X2 on here for $43k? And I thought that was a bit high.

Great post....

I have been looking at a ton of boats....the prices are all over the board. I would have to say...

09 new....57-62K
2010 new 69-79K

these are not loaded boats but boats with a few options.

The used boats out there for sale are in rough shape....one reason we are looking at new to be honest with you.

Are you nuts? I GAVE that boat away! I challenge you to find another 07 Saltwater Series X2 for That price, cause in a few months, if things keep going the way they are, I just may buy it!

You definitely gave that boat away. I was shocked at what it was sold for. Whoever bought that got a freaking fantastic deal IMO.

Yeah, I would have bought your boat in a heartbeat last year for that price. Gave $40k for mine, put about $2k worth of parts into it to get it similar to the options your boat already had, and it would have been alot more $ if I quantified the install time and didn't shop some great deals along the way.
Don't mind Archimedes, he must live int eh worst town in the country to sell a boat.:D

Glad you got em! Arch I believe has the exact boat that I had without the tandem axle trailer with metalflake fenders. That alone was about $2000.00 extra. He's deaming if he thinks he can get $57000 for his boat.:D

Archimedes

I'm confused SkiDog. You sold it for $43k, but you could have gotten a lot more? what possessed you to give it away? And Thrall, you paid $40k plus $2k a year ago for a similar boat, but low $40's isn't the market for that boat right now? Has your boat gotten more valuable?

Everyone looks at the pretty boat pictures, loves to talk about what they would pay or could get, but when the rubber meets the road (or the gel coat meets the water) the actual prices being paid, in general, are much lower. The market data supports this. Are there still fools out there that don't do their homework and get suckered? Sure. Given the characteristics of the boat market versus say the used car market, it is going to be more prone to the outlier transaction.

As regards the X2, I think it is an awesome boat, my favorite in the MC line. But to start talking $70k+ for that 20' ski boat is a sign of the apocalypse if there ever was one. We've collectively lost our minds as a buying group if we conclude that that boat is reasonably priced in the $70s, and if it's an 09 about to be 2 model years old, even the $60's ir ridiculous.

I think you have me confused. I have an X-1 without any flake and if I could get even $37k for my boat it would already be hooked up to the buyer's trailer hitch.

Arch, Skidog's talking about some guy on here who has an 07 X2 in FL that he want's 57k for. Looks kinda like Skidogs old boat on a single axle trailer.
As for my boat......and remember, I'm just giving you a hard time about the buy/sell $ thing :D,
I paid 40k for it, AFTER searching the Western half of the country for about 3mo straight and only found one X15 (shoulda bought it, but it was early on in my search and I didn't realize the deal was that good) and one X2 (the one I bought) for low 40s.
I'll qualify that with I looked at a couple X2's that I talked them down to low 40s, but they were higher hours, or sparsely appointed, or in need of repair, or asthetically beat up, or a combo of all 4.
Example, went and looked at another 06X2 in Denver. 200+hrs on the boat, 50hrs on the engine(MCX, no winterization, what else did the dufus neglect on his expensive toy), beach scratches, beat up swim deck, cruise, 2 tower speakers and that's about it for options. Guy wouldn't budge at $42k. Called him back about 3 weeks later when I found my current boat to see if he was ready to deep discount his, but before I could get the words out, he told me it was sold. I presume he got the 42k for it b/c I told him if he was ready to come down any more in price to call me.
If that boat fetched 42k then, yes, mine and Skidogs could bring more.

I feel for ya, but you also have to remember, the new X2's are a completely different model, more room, fresh look, etc.
You are competing with the same basic boat going back quite a few years to the orig 205V. Not that it's not a great boat, but supply/demand has more 205V's out there for sale than pickle fork X2's. That in itself is going to drive the price down a bit.

Oh I'm not worried about my boat's value. I went into it with open eyes and know it's a depreciating toy. I didn't buy my latest boat until I was in a position to have it become worthless and not care. It's a sunk cost and if I get anything for it when I eventually sell it, fine by me.

Regarding your search, did you look in NorCal? There were a bunch of X2's in Cope's inventory before they went down and I think NorCal MC in Pleasanton even had a left over 08 or 09 in their inventory in the mid $50s last summer/fall. I know there was a nice one on CL out here last summer in the high $40s that wasn't selling.

When I was looking back in 06, Cope offered me a nicely optioned 06 X2 for $55k on a dual axle. I said no because the boat was just a bit too big for me, and I get hives when the first digit in a boat price hits 4, much less 5.

I bet a guy named Guido who works for the bank came and got it. He could not sell for less because he owed that much on it. If you had bought a new 06 for 55K and financed for 10 years like most banks would let you, then he probably owed 42K. Just hypothesizing. Some banks were even allowing people 12-15 years on boats at that time.

I think you find the real market value in a hurry when you are in a hurry to sell. And Skidog found it.
