Good to hear from you. Hope things are well in Iraq. I guess as good as they can be.

I had a 2000 X-star which is the same hull and layout. It had a great all around wake for anything I wanted to do. The wakeboarding wake was second to none. The only reason we got rid of it was my wife hated the rough ride. Went to the X-15 much smoother ride, decent wake and tons more room.

Sham, I'd lean more toward the X-15 also or a newer style X-2. Alot more room and storage and better rough water ride than the older X-2 hull.

True, but both those boats will be significantly more expensive than the model he's leaning towards.

Good to hear from you Shamrock. I've been looking for an X-1/205V/X-2 or a MS210/X-10 for a buddy of mine. Check out skiitagain.com. There are a bunch of them on there. I don't know what your price range is or where you are located, but you should be able to find on on there.

By the way - the easiest way to search all of craigslist is this: http://craiglook.com/

Lots of listings for the X2:

Good luck!

Sweet x=15 in atlanta on craig... I went from ps190 to MS210 but built like X-10... no way i would go back... unless I wanted two boats... The ride difference is unreal, and you arent jarring people to death, just crusing the lake... Plus the ski wake isnt truly that bad... better than any other like Sea Ray etc

In my opinion even in our new X2 I would not be happy with anything less than the MCX. I think you will find the Rtp to be lacking in a 22' boat. I would vote minimum of an MCX. I guess it all depends on your use however. If just recreational and you don't plan to weight it down, maybe it would be ok?

I have a 2007 X-30 with a LY6 (400 HP). As this boat seats up to 16, you will be a popular attraction and may pile in that many people. Same with ballast for surfing, if you want that big wake. I agree that the MCX would be minimum and would encourage more horses if you plan on having many in the boat recreating with you. The LY6 worked well for us as we could fill the boat with 16 people (about half were kids), go out and still tow a 2-person Big Mable tube behind and give them a wild ride. We were surfing with that many people also plus ballast. No problem with the LY6. We always had enough power. With just my family on board (2 adults, 4 kids), gunning it would put those standing to the floor if they weren't hanging on.

well as for usage, we surf most of the time and wakeboard when we can find smoother water later in the day. i would have at a minimum me, babymama, and 4 kids and usually drylandfish. we love surfin so i would assume the ballast would be full. i am also looking at an x10 with the 6.0. any ideas or reccommendations? the x30 has new upolstery and the x10 is a 6/7 out of ten on the uplostery. any reccommendations or suggestions would be awesome!! thanks ya'll

hey guys i was wrong that x30 has the 6.0 ltr!!
how much better is that?

H20BOY
05-26-2010, 10:35 PM
That is much better. Before I bought my X-15, I was looking at 2 X30s one with the RTP and the other with the 6.0. Huge difference. RTP in that bought felt like a you were constantly towing an oil tanker. 6.0 was great. the only reason i did not get it is it had some fiberglass damage that i did not want to deal with.

Be prepared to add extra ballast to the X-30 in addition to the standard tanks. It is a large boat and you'll need more than standard ballast for surfing. I had a 750 in the port rear storage and still needed riders on the port side and corner to get a good sweet spot for surfing. I have another 750 that I plan on having on the floor or perhaps the seat to get the wake even larger this season. So, get a big engine as you will likely want to add more and more ballast for surfing.

thanks madmuffin. the owner has some that he uses and i am not sure if he is leaving them or not. but if not i got a buddy that sells them so he can hook me up. how hard is it to add more and plumb them in? thanks

You bet Shamrock but of course testing driving will tell you what is best for you. A test surf may not be a bad idea either as this can be challenging for some boats whereas wakeboarding is more of a given with the v-hull X-series unless your looking for "X-star" wakeboarding. I'm still dialing in the surf on the X-30 and find this is an art. There's a new post from a guy that just purchased a X-25 and is asking for help trying to dial it in for surfing and he's got 2500 lbs of ballast.

Also, coming from a smaller and/or ski boat, I would think the X-Series may not feel nearly as nimble and the larger you go, less so. People have told me that a X-15 is noticeably more maneuverable than a X-30 but I haven't driven one. An X-15 may have fit my needs also - 14 seats is still pretty good. But for the price, the X-30 fit my needs for lake size, large groups of people and the watersports we like.

Shamrock, I use Fly High Pro Series sacs and don't have them plumbed into the boat. I have two Tsunami pumps (Fly High) that have quick connects and 1-inch tubes that you throw over the side of the boat. The pump is in the water for filling. The pump is connected directly to bag to empty.

Hey Shamrock...Keep that Luck of the irish going whilie your there in IraQ...

That is a Dream boat come true. The colors and graphics are just amazing. I love the lines. It looks similar to my 1999 Maristar. The 210's and 230's back then really had it dialed in. It is my favorite Body Style...

Good luck and can't wait for youto get back and have some well deserved fun with your new Toy! :)

Roger Blue!! cant wait to see u too!! have to throw u in the 30 and go surfin!!! me and fish are already planning on more ballast and surfin the dog out of it!! all i have seen are the pics but from what kelley and dad say it is a mighty fine boat and is a good upgrade from the 209. i will miss some of the things that the 209 had but i think this is a better fit!!

thanks maristar and timvan for the compliments and the well wishes. cant wait to get the h@ll outta here. it was 130 yesterday and all i wanted was to be at the lake. take care!

Hey Shamrock, I'm heading into my third weekend of surfing this season. Just to cool you off a little - lake temps so far in Northern Idaho: 58 (Memorial Day weekend), 63 last weekend and about the same this weekend. A little shock when you first get in with your wetsuit but all smiles behind the boat.
