I thought it would be fun to post a current poll...

and

A reason why you choose your particular MasterCraft

while i wanted a Prostar, the Maristar allows more room for wife, children, grandchildren and friends. My wife and I also wanted to be more intentional about taking along those who don't have the means or opportunity to get on the water. So room was a big factor. Also, the lakes around here are often busy and the good Lord likes to push the air across the land in a hurry so a boat to handle the chop needed to be considered. That's it in a nutshell

bought a 2000 Prostar 205- primarily will be used as a ski/rec boat with only occasional cruising. Have a 1960 Lyman for those occasions.

Wanted a boat with a great slalom wake that will be easy for novices to get up and ski/wakeboard/kneeboard/tube. Also wanted direct drive not v-drive

I'm not a "new" owner, but I do have 1985 SS that I rescued from my father. Always loved MCs and wouldn't even consider another brand.

It only allowed 10, butif you could use the same format of my title, and post another poll including the ones i missed...

that way we could get the entire MasterCraft line...

Thanks for the great idea!!

Traded in my Prostar 190 for the Maristar 200 to accommodate the whole family and their friends. After two summers our dog passed on, kids got older and became more interested in cell phones and Facebook. Wishing I had my Prostar 190 back.

Way to go MariStar-Man - alienate the very roots (and owners) of the brand of boats we all love so much.

98 PS 205. Chosen for the wake, has enough room for the girls and their friends, and because the price was in my budgeted range. Will be used primarily on a private lake for skiing, tubing (gasp!), and whatever other watersports the girls decide they like as they grow up.

I always wanted a MC. When i was a kid my family always went to Lake McQueeney in Texas to the waterski resort and i learned behind the Resort's boats they were always either MC's or Nautiques.

Figuring out what MC I wanted was a different story. I originally was looking at a PS 205, then a 205V because of the open bow and the potential for a good wakeboarding wake. After researching and going on a few forums including this one, i found out that the 00-02 Xstars (Same Boat) could be had in my price range (if I bumped it up just a bit), all ready to go for Wakeboarding and their Wakes were still some of the Best out there.

X-Star
I was a lot more hardcore about boarding before I killed my knee, and now I just can't decide what else I want.

So after 11 years of marriage, and just going out on the borother-in-law's 190 when we went home, we have finally just bought a 197. This is one mean tubin' machine;)

There's the X-7 thru X-15 option...

I'm sorry about you guys with older boats. That's why i asked someone more knowlegeable about the older models to make up a Seperate Poll. I'm just lucky to remember where the lake is....

That's about as much as I can handle...oh! and the swimsuit thread...lol

As far as Me and the Maristar, I just got real lucky. It was the second boat I looked at. When i saw how wide it was and it was a MasterCraft, and had a Tower, I said,"I'll take it..." I didn't even start it or test drive it...I was in the zone...

These were Men with Lots of money and bought New MasterCraft's when the old ones got dirty. The Buyer saw my Zodiac on it's new trailer, and 20hp Yamaha, and Asked, "How much you want." You know more like a statement than a Question...

I said $$$ he said fine subtract it from the Maristar. and that was that. I would like to add that when people step into my boat it's solid like it's resting on a foundation...lol While watching other Boats and people getting into them, I couldn't help but laugh as I saw the boat's swaying from side to side... haha I mean llike a Teeter-Tooter...

I bought a '07 X-30 last year. Why the X-30:

ROOM. My wife and I have 4 kids and we like to take other families with us on the water and enjoy some elbow room. I had 16 in my boat more than once last season (three families) and was still pulling a tube behind with the 400 LY6. Sure, half of them were kids but that's still pretty good IMO.

SURVIVING THE CHOP. We boat on a large lake that can also have significant boat traffic. When it gets choppy, the X-30 handles the rough water well. We don't have to park it or wait for everyone to clear out.

VERSATILITY. The X-30 does about everything - we did wakesurfing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, tubing and waterskiing (in order of time alloted). Wouldn't buy a X-30 if all I wanted to do was waterskiing and we don't do much but it does everything else very well. We wakesurf a lot and the X-30 delivered with stock ballast and a 750-sack (and some people). Have another 750 for this season and I'll be out with four surfboards in the tower! And we can wakesurf for hours...

PRICE PER SEAT. A larger boat would have been a bit much for us and a smaller boat would have meant less family room and leaving others on shore. The X-30 fills the 23' 16-seat gap in Mastercraft's lineup at an affordable price without sacrificing room in the main cabin (where the adults sit). ;-)

that's why I'm keep the X1 and considering an X14. The older I get the more I like a softer wake.

I'm curious. Why you would prefer the x-1 over the 02 Xstar. Newer tower design?

Had a 85 S&S and decided I need a little more room.... So, the 197 was the way to go for me....

Personally...my decision to purchase a MC was based in part of current economic conditions and the complete use of a boat.
MC seems to be a pretty stable company, no wood use and hold thier value quite well. Wanted a boat for the family so naturally the Maristar fit the bill. Also, owning a '94 225vrs in the past didnt hurt my decision.

I was looking at twin engine Donzi's but soon realised that with my young son and wife...shooting anywhere at 70+ mph wasnt going to happen and no way we were going to ski or have any watersports fun with somehing like that. Im happy with "our" decision :)

I chose the 190 for a few reasons.
1. I am a minimalist and don't like a lot of crap sitting in the boat.
2. there is enough room for the wife, kids, and maybe one other if skiing.
3. When barefooting, I can easily have 5,6 people in the boat, and still not worry about the wake size, or getting out of the water.

I chose the x-45 for the roominess and the overall versatility of the boat. I chose MC because I perceive them to be the best in the business for this type of "pleasure" craft. And because MC's are Kick A** boats! Toss up between i/o and inboard, inboard won because of the placement of the prop in relation to swimmers by the transom. Didn't want our swimmers getting dinged up on the prop, or a swimmer hurting our prop, lol......I'll probably do enough of that without their help!!!!

'92 PS 205.

'Cuz when I saw it, the sky opened up and a beam of light shone down from the heavens and I could hear angels singing.

That, and it was a top-end boat, unique (never seen another all black one) and had only 400 hrs.
