Thought it was crazy that with all of the tragedy in the flooding, CNN chose to show some kid getting arrested for wake skating across a flooded parking lot. Used to do it in Phoenix all of the time.

this is just another example of how the cops in this country are getting out of control...you just can't give authority to people who abuse it...what law was this kid breaking?...the cops could have just told the kid to stop...Noooo...lets use the excuse "the kid could have been a Terrorist?...maybe he had a bomb strapped to his wakeboard?...maybe he should have been tasered too?.... like the kid who just went on the baseball field...did you see the video of the cops beating the stuffing out of a college student at U of Md...cops lied on report...but camera video caught the guys. they will loose jobs and should be in jail too...they are the real criminals

"At least he didn't do a butterslide 180 over the hoad of his car.....". At least Colbert gets it. With all the problems due to the flood waters, you'd think the cop has better (and more important) things to do. At least the kid is on a rope!!! Here it is heading into mid May and I haven't been behind my boat yet. It's mid 80s right now in VA but I'm working on my truck and the winds are kicking up over 35 MPH. Tomorrow when I go to the lake it's supposed to be windy and mid 60s

I hear ya Jim...
But that's a problem now -- when government gets so doggone big -- EVERYTHING is political by definition because gov't is everywhere and involved in everything.

And Steven Colbert is a political humorists as well -- and likes big government genrerally -- which is ironic here. There is no escape, even on a funny little video posted on a boaters forum. Sadly.

I watch Colbert a lot and he seems to be a die-hard conservative to me, unlike John Stewart who I canít stand to watch. I like Colbert because he can be funny as hell without having to make stupid faces and cuss like Stewart. Just my interpretation. :D

Maybe the police officer was enforcing some rules that are pretty standard where we ski ...

1. No spotter in the tow vehicle?
2. No CG approved PFD?
3. Not using the proper hand signals?
and most importantly...

4. Not being towed by a Mastercraft!

Arrest those punks!!!!!!!

What's next... arrested for running with scissors?

On the other hand if he fell he might have sued the parking lot owner for not posting a no wake skating sign. Seems like you just can't win these days.

Pretty cool video though.

There was a Cable TV show about several months ago...called Aquapoloosa?...that showed the various water police departments...DNR, marine police, wildlife police, etc....abusing college kids on spring break while they were on boats in the water...this took place off of Florida, Lake Powell, and a river/creek in Arkansas...these kids were on spring break and decided to do have fun on the water, as opposed to land (future boat buyers?)...There was some drinking going on...but no worse than at landlocked bars....it was clear that the cops wanted to abuse these kids....they wanted to arrest them....they wanted to hassle them...one cops even made a comment about lake Powell being his lake!...In Arkansas the cops formed a line across the river/creek and stopped/searched every freak-en canoe and tuber...they wanted to find anything and everything that they could to fine them or arrest them...

the cops treat illegal aliens better than these students...or maybe they're scared of the fallout if they abuse an alien...these students represent the future of America....taxpayers...
the cops couldn't get away with this behavior if the boaters were a bunch of politicians, lawyers who knew the law, or other cops!

We don't live in Nazi Germany ...yet...and we can't treat the good citizens here like they are all "terrorists" of some sort...lets get back to sensibility...and go after "real" crime...not petty things...

I'll be Contessa's Biatch. She was on the local NBC station here and she looks far better live than on TV.

Ahh they ever so popular quit hassling me, me stupid actions aren't that stupid comparatively speaking excuse.
So apparently saving the lives of innocent people isn't really the job a police officer should be concerned about?

As to the Clobert Report Hysterical! Some funny stuff indeed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The popo be raggig on kids fun all the time right???

Did you see all the people around to the right? Did you happen to see the cops right next to them? The idea of police work is to prevent things, not to just respond. That truck spinning out of control puts numerous peoples lives at risk for no apparent reason. Is it a what if? you bet but that situation is one that should be avoided. While I am all for having fun and doing crazy shiat, there is a time and place, and that for sure wasn't it. Put that instance on a back country road with no people and totally different situation........... Right in the middle of town next to the police and people of the community is reckless to say the least.

I will always have a job because there will always be a select few people who don't think before they act and have no respect for others. It wasn't like the cop threw the kid down at gun point and beat his arse. He walked up to the kid, grabbed him and told him to put the wakeboard down most likely and then cuffed him gently, escorted them to the curb and had them sit down. Thought it was handled well. Same with the kid in the truck. At the very least here they would have got cited, at the most taken to jail and charged with a state crime. My choice on which. I will be honest, very unlikely jail, but I usually leave it up the guy in cuffs to determine his fate.

As for the rants on Powell and Meade.....Have you ever worked the water at those places or places like the Ozarks and The Chain of Lakes. Because I have and its alarming. You know what the fatality rates? These places are mad houses. I love how just because you watched a show on T.V. you know how they are. AWESOME!

uh, no, he is not. He is parodying conservatives.

Having said that, he does make some great anti liberal comments during his parodies, and some folks think he believes some of them. But no conservative he.

BTW, I love the skating. If they did endanger some folks with the truck, which is hard to tell from the video, then maybe the cops were not so out of line. That's the danger of "a little information."
