Just wondering if it is normal for the teak platform to be flush with the water? The boat is a 2009 X45 with 8.1. No Ballast. I have seen other pictures of X45s on teamtalk and the platforms are 2-3" above the water. Is it the 8.1s extra weight causing this?

Is that not where you want it, at the water level. I would hate to be the guy trying to get out of the water with a platform 30" up. That is a huge step. My buddies X10 is 30" but only when we are at footin speed, otherwise it is flush. My PS205 is flush and that is good.

L-18 is about 200 lbs heavier than the LY6, (727lbs vs 539lbs) so I would bet that is the main reason your platform is lower than other boats with a different engine than you.

It looks a bit low to me but I'm not that familiar with the X45. My X2's platform is about 2-3 inches from the water when sitting still.

I seem to remember someone else discussing this topic in another thread. The conclusion was the the platform was dealer installed and probably installed too low, I don't know if this is a fact.

Platform mounts are attached on the hull at the factory I cant imagine the differences there would be if the dealers did this.

my X-30 sits low when at a stand still but you need to check it when your moving-it should pop 2-3" out of the water

That is right about where my platform sits, and I have the same set up as you. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Always have trouble getting a nice wake. It always seems to be washy. Probably need to add some weight in front. Thanks for you inputs.

Are you sure your ballast tanks are empty? The electronic gauges are not always accurate.

We have an '06 X-45 with the L18...looks just like yours. Where the brackets are mounted there's really no way the platform could be any higher.

If you're having a hard time getting a good wake for wakeboarding, mess with the trim plate. We found right about in the middle is makes a nicely-shaped wake. We have to remember to check it after sitting for a long time because it eventually goes to the full-up position after a while of having the engine shut down.
