Just curious does anyone know what specific OE preventative warnings a 1989 Prostar 190 (351) would have spcifically towards low oil or too much oil? Is there a sensor on the engine to prevent starting if there is too much or not enough oil in the pan? Or is it just the audible warning at the panel for low oil? I was starting the boat last night but it was at a decline and right when I would turn the key I heard a click and all power was lost at the panel. Now its probably a coincidance but I leveled out the boat and it started right up. Im thinking I have a bad ground to the engine.

I have had an 87 and now I have a 93 prostar with 351 and neither have a sensor for oil level, only oil pressure when it is running. there should be a push button on the rear of the engine that is for a circuit breaker but the level of the boat should not affect this unless it is broke like hk said.

I had an 89 PS and it also had a breaker on the panel for the engine (unmarked) in addition to the one on the back of the engine - to my knowledge there is no oil level cutoff.

Shouldn't be any kind of device that monitors oil volume. I wonder if your battery sides back and forth when not level. Make sure the connections are tight.
