One of the Jabsco ballast pumps(port) that came on my 2007 x15 is making a funny noise and wont run continuously while filling/emptying. I makes a " runt, runt, runt, runt, runt, runt, runt" sound instead of the continuous "normal" fill/empty sound. I called the service guys and they said to check the impeller...which I did and it was fine. While I had the cover off I turned the switch to fill...made the same sound and spun each time the "runt, runt" sound was made. I am stumped on what could be going on with it. I did change the factory timers to the 20min timers when I installed the fat sacs piggy back style. I wouldnt think the timer would have anything to do with it.

Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to avoid trailering and taking to service.

I would guess then your pumps are mounted with the impeller side up? That will allow the standing water in the pump to leak down into the motor housing and then it will go bad...

One simple test to see if it might instead be an electrical problem is to swap out one of the other pumps' wiring harness and see if the pump still does it. That can at least isolate the problem to the pump itself and not the timers or other electrical components. The pumps have about 18 inches of wire and then a harness...you can swap those around.

Yes factory installed with impeller facing the sky.... wonder why? Sound like this has happened to you? Thanks I will try to connect wiring harness plug into the ballast pump in the engine compartment (if it will stretch that far)

thanks

Well, I plugged the other ballast pump connection into the pump that I was having problems with. The pump works fine...fills/empties as it is supposed to. Must be an electrical connection issue. Any other recommendations?

check cables from pump to timer boxes ...
The timer boxes are under the rear seat cushion on the port side.
There is a cable connect from the Cable coming from the pumps and each of the timer boxes.
It is just "pressed" together - maybe there is some corrosion - so the connection is not OK ... usually it gets hot ... and could cause the cables to burn ...

Check also the wireing inside the plastic housing for the 3 timers of everything is well connected on free of corrosion.

Thanks Captain...I will give a look. Hopefully the fix is as easy as that!

I rewired and now it works fine. Must have had one of the connections reversed
