My 1976 S&S clone is a kluge of wiring. I'm repainting the engine in the boat and have removed all the wiring from the engine down to a 6 pin connector that goes forward in the bilge. I've got 4 pages of notes, wiring diagrams and carefully tagged all the wires prior to removal. I'll redo w/ new.
It looks like most of the old wire is 16GA with a few in 14GA, the Alt wire to the solinoid is 10GA
So what size wire are you guys using for most of the engine area, 14GA, 16GA ?
Did a search on this forum but didn't see this addressed.

I recommend replacing with the same guage you take out. In my '95 most is 16 GA. Some are different, like yours.

Replacing with the same or larger size wire is the simple answer. You won't have any problems as long as you don't go smaller.

Here is a link for the best marine grade wire source ever! http://genuinedealz.com

I re-wired mine last year and their stuff rules.
