Hi, I have an 83 Stars & Stripes I'm currently restoring and am wondering if anyone out there has installed new carpet themselves. I can tell that one of the previous owners replaced it once, but did not do a very good job. It seems pretty straight forward, just have to remove the seats and engine cover. I got samples from Overton's on their 16oz and 20oz and it seems to be good quality. Any advice is appreciated.

Whatever you take out, remove it as nondestructively as possible. You can use it as a template for the new cuts.

I just removed seats and engine cover. Johnny took his entire boat apart for a rebuild, so no need to remove the entire deck, however, it IS the easiest way for access.

I just tackled that project so it's pretty fresh in my head. PM me with any questions and I'd be happy to share what worked and what I would do differently.
