Does anyone know the height (at the highest point) of a 2002 Xstar with the tower folded down (double axle trailer if that matters). I am looking for a "garage friendly" boat and I have 87 inches to clear.

you should be fine depending on the angle of your driveway.
i have an 03 X-2 with the zero flex flyer tower (should be the same as the 02 X-Star tower except the WB racks) and it fits in my garage with a 7ft door. i have just under 7ft of clearance with trim on the header and i have about an inch or so to spare.
my driveway slopes up slightly into the garage.
i also have the dual axle MC trailer (14in rims). if it's the sport boat trailer that was commonly ordered by the seattle dealer(s) through 08/09 it may be slightly different. i don't know.

Thanks Bruce. Your situation sounds just like what I am looking at, same tower, and I have a slight slope up to the door. My garage is an 8 footer, but it is one that arches so on the outside edges where the tower would be moving through is down to 87 inches so I should have 3 or 4 inches to spare. Thanks

On a side note, how do you like your x-2? I have a 91 Maristar 210 that I love, but the family gets a bit cramped with the direct drive. We love to do three things in this order 1. ski 2. surf 3. wakeboard. I am recreation level on all three of these, and the research I have done has pointed me to this hull design. What are your thoughts.

i love it and the hull will accomedate all of those, but it may not be as spacious as you think. i take it you've seen them up close and personal? the sunpad is huge, so the cockpit/cabin is on the smaller side. smaller beam i believe than your 210 (but i could be wrong on that), so again, little tighter quarters even though it's nice and open.
i've got a big family though, with young kids and we never feel like we're cramped or anything. still plenty of room for another couple folks to come along too.
when we're not riding, the large sunpad and teak swimstep are great for the kiddos.
the boat has been great for us. no regrets.

Ditto brucemac, we have 2 adults, 2 teens, one 9yo, even with 2 or 3 others it is not crowded.

You should be able to get it in. I have a 2003 X30 and am able to get it in the garage with 7 feet of clearance with the tower down. I do have to fold it down, and then loosen the arm with a bend in it, don't know what it's called... but it has a knob.
