Hey I took my 02 X-star out today for the second time. First time was out about 4 hours and everything was fine. Today I was out running it about 1 hour and the check engine light came on. I shut it down and started it again and it went off but came back on in another hour. All gauges are normal and engine isn't getting hot. Any ideas of what could be wrong? Is there any way to check the codes??

My 02 197 did the same thing. My buzzer would even go off. All systems were normal (LQ9 engine, and it's closed loop cooling). MC dealer couldn't go online with it, and MC Tech support informed them that the ECM needed to be replaced. They also said it wouldn't hurt to operate this way, but I ended up replacing the ECM when my boat wouldn't start the following season which fixed the check engine light, but didn't fix the no start condition(ended up being water in the fuel tank). Dealer spent nearly a month trying to figure this out (and they never did). I picked up the boat after they had it for a month and found the problem within an hour. I also bought the Diacom laptop software so I can read the codes myself.
