Lifted these off a new dealership in the SoCal area, but I thought that they would be really cool for all to see here!

Good find, Sodar.

Can anyone answer why the ad in 1981 refers to the hull as a powerslot hull?

It was referred to as a powerslot hull because there was a slot in the hull to accomodate the larger prop for the gear reduction transmission.

And was incorporated into the hulls for years, created somewhat of a hook, with or without the powerslot transmission,

Very cool old pictures Sodar and thanks for sharing them...anyway to get copies?

Baby moon hubcaps still look very good on those older MC trailers...

I did not know the 81 still had a rounded windshield, and thought the Power Slot was a first in 1980 but I could be wrong.

One last thing was all the protective gear the guy had on in that wicked jump picture with the cool looking boat, heck he had to jump at least 170 feet back then

Great pictures.....

Just an FYI, if you have any older shirts you would like a new one of places like kinko's or a shirt making shop could maybe scan it for you or you scan it yourself and reproduce the shirt. I did the one bellow and it doesn't look half bad.

In '89 at the Cypress Gardens Reunion, we signed waivers and got to ride in the boats during the 2:00pm Saturday show and I rode with Russ Daley. We did some barefoot pulls, and launched the Kite and the group did the side by side run just prior to the powerturns that were done if front of the crowd at the end of the show. We also did the "Thread the Needle" ( V ^ V ^ V) where 2 boats go between 3 boats head on. They rub rails do bump occasionally!

This is a "Thread the Needle" being done by Eddie Skiddingsrude at the Gardens, with 2 boats going slow and leaving a big wake, nothing but the bottom of the rudder and prop in the water!

Better picture and I've got it all on VHS video too.

The powerslot came about because when MC added the 152 reduction they went from a 13 inch prop to a 14 inch prop, only problem was the larger prop hit the hull so they slotted the hull to accomodate the larger prop, hence the powerslot. After the slot went away the name stuck when talking about the 152 reduction gearbox.

Great shot! I'm not trying to threadjack but, while we're on the subject and digging into the photo archives..... I am looking for a shot of my boat or one of the other 3 red and white S&S's like it that had the "Enjoy Coca Cola" lettering on the sides of the bow right behind the docking lights. My boat came from Marineworld in Redwood City, CA and there were supposedly 3 others like it produced in '82 for different marine parks. I can see faintly in the gel coat where the lettering used to be and stars have been placed to fill the blank area. I've been thinking of having the lettering made and re-installing them. Rick

Naw, it's all prints from 35mm mostly of reunions, open houses, plant dedication, ProTour stops, etc. that we attended or were invited by MC to participate in for the benefit of the employees, supply partners and owners/watersports enthusiasts. Out of the 28 events we've attended, only in 15 of them did we compete for awards, so I've got some pics as a spectator/judge that I otherwise wouldn't have got if we were polishing, wiping for the judging, yet, every event we attended the boat/van was displayed anyway at MC's request.
I'll workm on couple other thing though! We'll see!

You're in Long Island? I've got a friend that wakeboards there, not far from Jones Beach I think (he lives in Levittown). We ride in NJ.....take the NJ turnpike south to exit 6 and the ramp is 2 miles from there. A buddy comes down often from NYC to wakeboard Saturday mornings.....you're always welcome to a pull. :D
