View Full Version : Tiny Crack on the top of the ski

When I wasn't paying attention for a split second, I knocked the tip of my ski against a dock post. I later noticed a tiny blemish somewhere along the lines of a scratch or crack on the top part of the ski at the tip. It doesn't appear to have grown after multiple sets, but I was thinking of putting a little epoxy or JB Weld on it to prevent it from getting any bigger. Any recommendations and/or techniques would be appreciated.

I think I might use super glue. It bonds well and is clear.

ETS see if you can reach Eddie Roberts from HO on the Echolls board. He'll have great advice.

Thanks. I copied the post to the Nicholl's board, added crazy glue, and dropped Eddie's name.

I wouldn't worry about it, only the first few hurt!
You should see the battle wounds on my ski. Still runs great! :D

ETS...when you find something out, please post it on here, I have a pretty good nick on the upper edge of my ski down to the core of the ski and I've not found out any good advice on the subject yet.

Epoxy or Marine Tex was suggested on the Nicholl's board. Make sure it's dry, mix, fill, sand, paint. Crazy glue was said to not be as good in wet situations. Eddie Roberts chimed in and said epoxy or marine tex would be fine and that they had had no troubles with industrial strength super glue. I don't think I'll be painting as the crack is tiny.

Yeah, right. Trust me, it'd take more damage than that. Like Stevo said, the first nicks always hurt the most.

That's right Doug. Now don't worry about that scar and get out there and ski nasty! :D

Well, I'll probably fill it. It's so tiny, all it can do is get bigger.
