Hi guys,
I have a borg warner 1.1 velvet drive. I noticed late last year when in nuetral, it was in gear and moving. I replaced the neutral safety switch and plate, however, it did not fix the problem as it will not go into neutral. It would seem apparent that the clutch needs to be replaced and the transmisson to be serviced. I should also mention that the fluid is at proper level and maintained. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks, J.O.

It is really not a big deal if you see the prop spinning a little bit while running the engine on land... the trans does not have a problem. It is just a little shear action of the trans fluid grabbing the discs in the clutch pack. Much more noticeable when cold and it should diminish as everything warms up.

Agreed.... After rebuilding my transmission last fall the tendency for the boat to move forward while in neutral increased. I believe this will subside somewhat as the clutches break-in. Perhaps a way to verify that is what is going on with yours is to pull the neutral lock and rev the engine while in the water. I would expect the boat will stay pretty much at the same speed it was before revving the engine. If the boat lurches forward than you may indeed have a transmission problem.
