I would love a competent dealer in my area. I never take the boat in for service just parts. I have been boycotting the one dealer 1 hour from me because of the stupid people in the parts department, long story, and have been using one that is almost 2 hours from me for parts. And now I'm boycotting them because of what happened to me Tuesday.

I have been trouble shooting slop in my steering wheel and traced it back to the tilt mechanism in the column. Called the dealer and said "I need the part that bolts to the helm and tilts and the steering wheel attaches to it by splines." They told me the had to get it from their other location but could have it for me by the next day. They called me the next day and told me they had it, so I took off work early and drove to get it. When I got there they parts guy was a little busy and basically through the part at me, and it was the wrong part. He ordered the helm itself, the part that bolts to the rack/steering cable. When I said it was the wrong part he acted like it was my fault and was very rude. I then told him I specifically said the part that tilts and attaches to the steering wheel, and this part did neither. After about 20 minutes of rude service he comes out with a box that had a kit for the whole steering set up, one of the parts being the one I needed. I figured he was going to sell just the part to me and back fill the kit with another. No dice, he wanted to sell me the kit for $650, and I only needed the $140 part. So I left empty handed hand. I also was going to purchase the lift shocks for the ski locker, but did not want to give any of my money to a dealership with service like that. So I'm now in the market for a new MC dealer.

I'm I over reacting?

Bit to far to use Chicago mastercraft, could still order parts from them. Erkohler on here works there.

Before my local MC dealer went belly up, I wouldn't even consider buying parts from them. They were basically useless everytime I called for anything more than an impeller and they were rude about it. No customer service. My current MC dealer is an hour away now and they're much better. Dealer quality is critical to an enjoyable ownership experience.

Re your story, I think you have a right to be pissed, but I would have waited until they had it, called again and described it again and made sure it was the right part before getting in the car. My assumption would have been, based on experience, that they would have ordered the wrong part and I would have made very sure they had the right one before I got in the car.

No you are not over reacting... Mastercraft and their dealerships charge BMW prices so they better deliver BMW quality and service.

BMW prices? I feel like they charge Mercedes prices. But that's what you have to expect/accept when getting either a Mercedes or a MasterCraft.

Have you tried Action Water Sports? They have 3 locations in Michigan... or are they the ones you are talking about? I've always had great service from them, top notch IMO.

I think BHM Tri-Lakes outside of Akron is great. I hope you give them a chance ..... Chris has always taken care of me.

BCS the previous dealer here in Columbus is operating again under their old name, even though they do not seem to be affiliated to MC, they went by way of the BU for a while as a Know Wake outfit ....... Tri-Lakes give them a call.

Dry Dock is no longer MC. They switched to Nautique last July. They still have a very friendly and courteous staff though.

Standard answer as everyone has already mentioned. Eric at CMC, Jim at BAWS, and MC of Charlotte will all treat you right.

It'd be nice if you could support your local dealer and vice versa, but if that's not the case These three dealers will.

Personally I use MCOC and like someone said, Brian treats everyone right.

I'll second Tri-Lakes. Chris and James are great. There is a reason so many of their customers follow them, because they provide great service.
