Low Compression on #3

Hey All,

Did a compression test this weekend....#3 shows 62 lbs. :(

The others were 130 - 160.

Did the oil-in-the-cylinder test and the reading did NOT change so I assume its a valve thing....

Still trying to decide whether I should pull the heads or take it to the shop - we've a really good marine engine shop very close by...I've not done any serious wrenching in 30 years so I'm leaning towards the shop...

Dude - that stinks. I really feel for you. If you want, I have a couple buddies who re-did my bottom end a couple years ago (2 brothers & their dad). You won't find a better group of mechanics. They're in the Hagerstown area - about 2 hours from you. They do the work on the side, but you'd still probably only be down for 2 weeks. The dad used to be a Diesel mechanic for all of his working life (now drives a MAC tools truck). The brothers each turn wrenches at GM/Chevy dealerships.

Let me know if you're interested. I'd have to ask them if they are willing to take it on (they always say yes).
