Spending Spring Break in Bradenton/Sarasota area and looking for some suggestions on a place to get some skiing / wakeboarding instructions. My wife and I are "weekend wallys" and my son likes to ski and wakeboard. Looking for a place to spend a day or two to improve technique and ski a course. Ideally within a 2 hour drive (Tampa, Winter Haven, etc). Any one have any experience with the schools around there?

Try McCormicks Ski School in Seffner FL. just outside of Tampa. Haven't been there in quite a few years, but always had a good time.

Thanks for the links. I had found those during my search as well, and was looking for someone who might have been to one of those places to respond. I will give McCormick's a call. Anyone else have any experiences to share?

I would seek out other opportunitues

They are more focused on CABLESKI and really only give PULLS vs. instruction

Matt Rini is in Clermont, depending how far you want to travel...haven't been there myself, but have several friends who ski with him and go back every winter.

Thanks for the feedback. That's the kind of responses I'm looking for.

Thanks for the site. I checked it out and looks like a possibility. I'll have to give them a call and see what they would do for a family plan.

I spent a day at McCormicks last summer, and had great instruction and it was very reasonable. They did have a lot going on with the cable, but had a driver and coach dedicated to the slalom lake. Nice site and I would go back again, oh yea and they had a couple of really nice ski boats!

I went to McCormick's last year. Had a driver and a coach in the boat (CC 206). They did more to help me improve my slalom in my session, than any other info that I had gotten. I don't know or ski with any "good" skiers.
For the price, it was well worth it.

They also let me "play" with Zero Off in the boat, I am thinking about putting it in my boat.

Thanks for the link. Are they still active? The website lists prices for the 2007-08 season.

I wanted to update the thread as we ended up spending an afternoon at McCormick's near Tampa. Had a great time and got some good skiing and 'boarding in. First time skiing behind a Nautique, and I have to say I was impressed. They had a new 200 Open bow for skiiing, and a 210 for boarding. Parker was our driver, and Greg was our coach for skiing. He provided some great tips and the whole family saw some improvement. Very casual atmosphere with some fun people to hang with.

I went there for a couple pulls last summer. I wasn't impressed. I didn't pay the extra $$$ to have THE Jack Travers train me. Maybe that was a mistake.
