I moved to Panama City, FL from Orlando. Anybody want to ski up here? I have a Prostar 190, slalom machine. I really want to find a ski course in this area or at least a good fresh water ski spot, although the local Bay here is usually pretty flat. Anybody know of any ski courses in this area? If you don't, maybe we can build one (I have a portable course). Let me know if you want to ski -- anywhere between Appalachicola and Pensacola and Dothan.

Welcome to the board, sheperd!

I'll take a visitors pass if I'm ever down that way.
(Your welcome to a pull if you're ever in NJ.)

shep -- lived in tallahassee before moving to iowa. used to work for fla dept of nat resources and one of our research lakes was deerpoint lake in pc. it is an impoundment about 7k acres in size. when i worked it, had bad milfoil (aquatic weed) problem but grass carp were stocked and weeds were history. not sure what status is today. check it out and let me know. also, since it is an impoundment, there may be underwater obstructions in the form of tree stumps depending upon whether or not they were removed prior to filling. anyway, it was a large clean lake and i thought it would be neat to have a place on. it is a public lake so there will be boat ramps (one near dam as i recall).

Thanks mbeach. The locals here tell me Deerpoint Lake is nice. I wonder if there's a ski course on it. I guess I'll have to launch the boat there and do some exploring! The boat's out of commission right now because I'm having my seats re-upholstered, but maybe this weekend... I've had a few good free-ski sessions on the Bay, it's big but it's glassy most of the time. I just really miss skiing around the buoys. Plus, the salt water can't be good for the engine.

shep - the bay is gorgeous, but remember salt water is high maintenance. if you explore, remember to look out for underwater obstructions. as i remember, spring creek feeds deerpoint lake and is crystal clear in the upper reaches. would not talk my mc up there, however.
