I have noticed on several sites and pics that i have seen on the internet of a "guard" "net" that goes into your slalom handle that keeps you from breaking your ski on a fall. I am a beginner and have spent to much time and money to risk breaking a tip on a fall. any help would be apprecieated.

I have not heard of breaking a ski tip in a fall. The most common ski damage is a handle ding from releasing the handle into the tip of a ski during a deep water start. The "guards" on the handle are to prevent your head or arm from becoming entangled in the handle during a weird fall; the community has had a couple of fatalities over the past two years due to broken necks. I don't have a link for you, but they're out there...maybe google.
Edit, here you go...

thanks i was wrong. I have seen a ski broke due to a handle and just assumed that was what they were made for but thank you for the help. i have bought a 93 prostar and have sold all the wakeboard stuff due to getting married and can't afford to be hurt. will be taking my time learning the skinny stick this summer, and didn't want to hurt anything dur to not having the equiptment.

You picked a great boat for the sport. Good luck; there are plenty of good skiers on this site who can help you out along the way.

The "guard net" that you have seen is to prevent arm injuries from the skiers arm or even your head from going through the yoke during a fall.
You can buy them here:
email Thimas Wayne, the inventor of the Arm-Guard at twcues@cgi.net
Or another version can be found here:
