You should probably specify that this is for NEW boats. Like 08's & up, I think.:confused:

So this won't work on my '77. Left out again. :( :D :D

looks like this just downloads a text file for the specs for each specific rider up to 10 riders... the only issue I see with this is you'd have to refer back to this page each time to add the additional riders

would be cool if they could make this work for older boats and ski boats as well to integrate it with perfect pass or zero off

Good advice - this is also for the current production version 32.

Essentially, this is an HTML editor - converts your input metrics and dumps out a text file for import as a new rider to theBIG.

Agreed.
We launched this first for theBIG...opportunity exists to leverage similiar widget and process for PP and Zero.

You riders talk about how finiky skiers are about their pulls. Sheeeeesssshhh! How many crazy ballast adjustments do you need to make? Cool project though TT Admin. But shouldn't it be an application for a cellular phone too?

Looks fairly simple so long as you know where you like your ballast, trim, KDW, etc.

Looks like you could easily edit the text file to upload multiple riders at once.

: this is a comment
: rider image names have to
: be RIDER01, RIDER02, ..., RIDER10
: or you can leave it blank
[START_OF_RIDER]
NAME=BRC
IMAGE=RIDER01
CRUISE_MODE=1
CRUISE_SET_POINT=22
CRUISE_KDW=200
BALLAST_CELL_1=100
BALLAST_CELL_2=100
BALLAST_CELL_3=100
BALLAST_CELL_4=100
TRIM_1=0
TRIM_2=0
TRIM_3=0
USER_DEFINED_1=0
USER_DEFINED_2=0
USER_DEFINED_3=0
USER_DEFINED_4=0
[END_OF_RIDER]

Alot like importing POI into a GPS unit except you use a text file instead of an excel file.

That's what I like about my older '95. Ballast adjustment is simple:
"You, fat girl, that side of the boat.......skinny guy, other side of the boat":D

This just looks like a simple web application that allows a new 2010 or new X-series owners an easier way to add new riders to the BIG versus adding new riders directly to the BIG. It is easier to navigate and add your rider info in some open text fields on a web page versus on the BIG.

Basically the HTML editor is a simple web app like Excel or Word but uses a different computer language that runs on webpage versus directly on your computer. You use the HTML editor as an application to enter your new rider input or preferences for ballast settings, speed, etc. Once you have completed all the rider settings save your work by saving to your USB portable drive. The editor saves your settings as basic text file, .txt file. Walk over to your boat and insert the USB drive into the BIG and upload your new rider settings.

It looks pretty cool and easy to enter all your riders quickly and save mutilple files to your USB drive then upload them all at once.

I would much rather ski with three skinny girls than one fat girl and one skinny girl. Same weight, different distribution. Don't even need a fancy computer program to figure out which one sits on my lap.:D

It would be funny to merge this thread with the "cost of a new boat" thread...if after seeing all this anyone has any questions about why our boats cost what they cost only need see this.

Further this to me only adds to the decline of recreational boating...sure cost is a major factor, but imagine a newbie to boating seeing this? Not only do you need to do all the prep of loading coolers, gear, vests, towels, suntan lotion, hook boat to truck and then...sit down in front of computer load family and friends on to internet, down load program to flash drive, load info to boat...blah blah blah.

The KISS principle is dead...it will be missed.

That is one of the biggest reasons when and if I go to a bigger boat it will be 07 or older. I haven't gone to PP just because my cruise works well for me and is simple. Sometimes the race to be bigger/better/newer is definitely not progress!!

I am a slalom skier. Perfect Pass was the greatest thing since sliced bread. But it can be a pain in the butt; crew weight, skier weight, Kx, Px, end of course adjustments increasing RPM at one end of the course while lowering RPM at the other, different settings for bimini top up and bimini top down. Then Stargazer came along. Wow! Set speed and enjoy, that is if you have a drive by wire system '06 and newer in the MC's.

Progress that gives a better pull AND simplifies user tasks is good.

That whole system is worthless if it doesn't have a parameter for whether or not the bottom of your hull is waxed.

I think you meant Zero Off. You can put SG on old boats. With the 09 updates, they even lock in pretty quickly.

I never really thought so. I had to set baselines once about two seasons ago. Apart from that, it's just skier weight and speed. I realize with ZO, there's no skier weight. But with SG, as long as you have a decent setup distance, you don't even need to ask. Just approximate and it will adjust before you hit the 55's---at least it always does on my boat/lake/course. I'm not at tournaments every weekend and could care less if the pull feels different. It holds speed and is easy enough. I've skied behind Zero Off and am pleased that I'm not near good enough to tell the difference behind the boat.

FYI:
This web application project was completed as a "one-off" between engineering and IT. This absolutely does not factor into the "cost of a new boat" equation. We launched this project to further innovate...and offer the consumer an easy, online method to customize their rider settings.

Not sure how this factors into the stretch of this project adding to a "decline of recreational boating"...

However, do understand the need to keep things simplified.

Rebuttal:
I wasn't stating that the writing of this program added costs to the boats...but I'd be more than happy to discuss it. What I was directly referring to was the cost of the "big" and the complexity that it adds to the boat...IMHO.

As to the decline of recreational boating...how many things do you participate in for "free time recreation" that require all the things "trailer boating" does? Then add to it the time and effort required to learn the "big" as well as the rest of the features in a modern wake boat...you all may disagree, but it is my :twocents:
