Here are pictures of my buddies new Race Boat built by Mirage Boats in Winter Haven, FL. The motor is a 225 ProXS Mercury (ProXS's are fudged a little on the numbers, these motors normally run 240-245hp)
It still needs a new Racing Shorty Nosecone lower unit and a 31" prop, right now its running a 28" prop. With the factory lower unit, the water blows by the water pick ups so he has to run the motor deep in the water.
We took it out today, when you get the boat flying (yes, actually fly, rides of a cushion of air) it ran 88 or so with 2 people in it, about 400 rpm left and the motor deep. 91 mph solo.
should run about 105 or so when its all done.

BTW, the boat only weighs 700 lbs.

Oh, and yes its in our garage for now.

How about dimples?:D

Pretty awesome boat. Its funny - I'm thinking I'm not sure if I would want to take it out for a spin, but I think nothing of going 120mph on my sled down an 8' wide trail through the woods.

This motor is a 3.0L Optimax w/ Direct Injection... if it was a 2.5 carbed, it would run 110-120

I think some of our footers need to try this bad boy out...

With that much pitch, its sucks on take off... it cavitates bad. it was built to run stupid fast on the water.

the boat is a race boat, no flotation, hollow 1/4 inch hull. 18' 700lbs, the motor was less than 200lbs less than the boat. so a skier would rip the boat apart. :D I think he would be pissed if I tried it... LOL

Sounds like you will be making hot pick-ups from the dock when you to ski behind it and be satisfied with a two ski bailout if you wanna foot.

This has gotten a little off topic... back on topic... what are peoples' thought on the boat.

I want that. Anything that goes fast and that you can drink beer in is a good thing.

no cup holders on that thing... just a stripped down race boat. GPS speedo, Tach, water pressure, jack/trim gauge.

Mirage, SVTs, etc. are cool, but not my thing. I don't dig the blow-over factor. They are also a little too "sole-purpose".

If I were to get a sub-21' Cat, I think I would go with something like a Trick 21' which was built off the Skater hull. Definitely not as "balls out" fast as what your buddy got, but a little more creature comfortable and can carry 4 people... maybe 5 if you are squished.

I have watched a few guys take their SVT's to the edge, and it is definitely fun to watch!

I can manage to put a couple holder in it.

Looks great though! Must be a hell of a ride!

Very nice looking. Must be a wild ride. I would love to drive it. I always been an outboard guy until last year. Still have a 21 footer with 225 merc on it. It rides like a dream. The tunnels definetly have a smoother ride than v-bottom. My buddy had an 25 eliminator daytona with twin 300 built Evinrudes it ran 126 but at 115 you had to start trimming it, too much trim and you may be going over. Very scarey. This is the one he has now(36 Skater) did away with the outboards it runs 142, at 120 its like sitting on a couch. Twin 1100 hps motors with 6drives on it. These boats do only have a single purpose. They go fast and get places in a hurry. Then they sit and wait for me and my MC to get there and pull all there kids and I OK with that.

Too fast for me... think I'd need to clean my shorts after a run like that.

I have a vid of a mirage with a 2.5L doing a 142 run... you have to remember, this thing is only 700lbs... a new 3 seater PWC weighs more.

In that boat there is no room for a mistake. Can't imagine the thrill it must be at those types of speed.

I love the white hull with Black Merc. Also had an 18ft Tahati that was white with a 200 merc. Needed 2 people in it to balance other wise would start chime walken at about 65 but with 2 it would top out about 73 just flying through the air.

My buddies Skater is like sitting on a couch at 120. It is very stable so not much of a comparison between boats.

I've got a Prostar200 with a 225hp Johnson on it. I can't wait to get back on the water. Damn Winter. Love the Outboards.

update on the boat. Got the new low water pickup lower end. Tested it with a 34" cleaver prop. pulled 105.8 mph out of it at only only 5500 rpm with a single pilot. need to go down in pitch to pickup the rpm and should be able to be just as fast. hoping a 30 or 32 designed for tail lift should pull it up the 6300 and run the same same speed. with a 28 inch prop its running now, it runs 96 all day everyday with two 200+ pound guys on board. a little faster solo by 2.

okay, tested it with a 30" tail lift prop and pulled through the limiter and 101 at 90% throttle.
a 32" tail lift prop with a little extra cup added is on order. with a standard cupped 32" tail lift it went 105 with a 300lb driver (builder of Mirage race boats) and my buddy 200lb in the boat.
