I have an 06 x30 and have noticed on the newer boats they have what looks like a hydraulic
arm on the cushion for the cooler- I am sick of people letting go and slamming it. Can you buy that part and I assume it's an easy fix?

Thanks

Here is a site for the gas springs and the brackets you can use for mounting, http://www.iboats.com/Marine-Gas-Springs/dm/cart_id.419235917--session_id.509221635--view_id.257683

i have thought the same thing, but i think you would have to install some type of a hinge system.

Does the 06 X30 have a hinge on the cooler seat? My X2 doesn't, have to remove the cushion to get to the beer!
One of my projects down the road is to get a hinge on this. The new boats have it.

None what so ever, but a quick trip to a dealer showroom with a tape measure, you could possibly find a late model boat with the springs mounted for a seat base can get you your answer to a acceptable gas spring and the mounting dimensions. Also, on the setup you may find, there should be a tag or printed info on the gas spring (as shown in pic) to tell you what pound gas spring it is and the numbers to use for the open and closed lengths.

My 06 X45 has a hinged seat over the cooler. I too have thought of popping in a pair of gas shocks.

The main problem with it is that you have to keep one hand on the seat or it will slam down on your hands when you are in the cooler. Worse yet, when you put both hands on the cooler, you have to bend over and put your head on the bottom of the seat to keep it up, or awkwardly hold the seat up by twisting one elbow around while still holding onto the cooler handle.

I also have an 06 X30, a spring assist and hinge on the cooler cusion would be nice.. I wonder why the seat cushion behind the drivers seat doesn't have a hinge like the cooler cushion.

Hey, while were at it.. What is the compartment for under the tiny cusion in the middle back for? You know, the black plastic tub? Just curious..

That little compartment is a pain because it opens while I tow my boat and has punctured the seat cushion next to them

Mine too opens while towing, what's its purpose?

The X-25 has something different than a gas spring. It has a locking bracket insted. I could see the gas springs picking the seat up once underway, unless there is a snap to hold it down, thats what my tige did anyways.

When I bought my 07 230 (x-30), the dealer said that the black plastic tub was for putting shoes in. That's actually what we have used our for as it keeps all of the dirt water etc. out of the carpet.

Cool, thanks Dreddy..... I was thinking about putting a sub in that spot...

You guys need to close the walk thru door and windshield while towing. Doing so will cause much less wind to flip up that seat.

Anybody wanna sell me their cooler that's under that seat that just won't stay open? Bought my boat without it and can't find one to replace it........

If it's the same one as in the X2 COSTCO just started selling them for I believe like $24. They didn't have the correct size last year and I paid around $35 at West Marine. Hated to do it but it does fit just right.

I bought one on Sunday, the white marine Igloo 52qt 83 can capacity. tried to put it in and even took the screws off the seat cushion to get the cooler in there but then the seat wouldn't close. What size did you buy from west marine?

I've ditched the stock igloo for a soft cooler. The stocker isn't very portable and hard to carry from dock to vehicle or camp. I found an American Outdoors leak proof soft cooler that fits perfectly in the spot and has a shoulder strap to make walks real easy..
