I am in the market for a used mastercraft, and was wondering how many hours you can get out of the engine provided it has been taken care of?

What hull are you looking at? The 310RTP is a great engine in lighter hulls, but anything bigger than an X-1 I would aim for the 350MCX. And I agree with JohnE, 2000 hours minimum if taken care of. (I've seen older S&S's with well over 5000 hours)

Where are you in the northeast?

Thanks Guys,

Ya Im looking at the X1 with the RTP 310 with 110 HRS. Also looking at an 05' X Star with the MCX with 660 HRS. I think im leaning toward the X1 for size and condition.

I usually go with 1,000-1,500 hours possibly trouble free, then you will start having little things pop up. Shouldn't need MAJOR work for a long time after that........

water pumps, fuel pump, etc.

My fuel pump went out at 200 hours after the DEALER ran it out of gas :D

Ain't that a kick in the ****s?

By that time it was already low enough so the damage was done most likely.:(

Would have been a better story. Unfortunately it was on a fake-a-lake getting a used boat inspection.

I heard running in reverse actually lowers engine hours.
