I am re-doing my interior in my 83 SS and everybody always sits on the seat back while driving. Anybody put a raised seat or a newer nicer seat in their SS?

Thanks in advance!!
Ryan

I have seen people use a throwing device to sit on, so they had more visibility. Maybe you could make a second cushion and have some one upholster it for you.:twocents:

That would sure be the answer Miss, but they are really proud of those seats and don't exactly give them away.

Ya they Don't have the PRESIDENTIAL seal as a GIVE AWAY

All the extra profit gets trickled down...we as dealers are not allowed to make money these days

Easy there big fella! I don't begrudge anyone from making money, and I have yet to have a bad experience with a MC Dealer. I am by profession a salesman, and have always sold higher end products. I suspect you could put someone into a seat like this for less than the $600 that Barts is charging.

OK. it took me five minutes and I found a more reasonably priced seat:

Not the same seat, but for the price how could you go wrong?

Years ago I had my local upholstery guy make one for my I/O. He matched the seat shape and vinyl exactly.

The simplest solution is to use a throwable PFD (in your favorite color) as a booster cushion. Aren't they required by the CG anyway?

I don't want to be on the defense either!!! Same markup in the piece as any other
part that gets sold. I cannot control what I have to pay

Wow Jim, don't get your undies in a bundle. I never suggested that you charge too much for anything you sell, nor should you not be able to make a reasonable mark-up on the products you sell. Miss Rita posted a picture of a seat sold at Bart's, (not BAWS) that I thought was overpriced.

The information I followed up with was what I thought to be a more appropriately priced seat.

I never intended to put you on the offensive, merely trying to give Runnit a better option.

This is something I fail to understand... so many people do it and I have no idea why! Sitting on the seat back is dangerous and unneccessary. Visibility through the windshield on our inboards is great- why the need to get higher? If youre super short, sit on a throw cushion. Sitting on the seat back makes you look like all the wallys who drive their I/O's standing up!

Anyone know where I could get a S&S drivers seat. When I bought my boat it came with a fancy walmart model that someone fitted for it. I just want to go back to original. I have tried to make a shell for mine and have someone upholster it but it just isn't up to my standards.
