Hey guys, im looking to turn my semi automatic ballast system into a fully automatic system. Some of the new boats have an electronic balast gate which is controlled by a switch or the dash. Im not sure if mastercraft uses such a system, I saw this system on my uncles svfara, so I'm sure such a part is available somewhere. The way it is set up now I have to open the engine cover and manually open a valve, which is not the end of the world, but it would be nice to eliminate that step. Has anyone installed one of these or have any idea where I could find such a part?

MB sports has them, id try calling a dealer and seeing if they can order you that part.or try svfara if not mb.

right on. I was thinking I may have to go that route, but thought I should ask here first. The local svfara dealer are my relatives, so It shouldn't be to much of a problem.

Burner, what do you have on the bottom of the boat? If you do not have a scoop, you do not need a gate. RV waste gate valves have been used but the rubber in them tends to stick and you can plan on replacing it regularly. Mine lasted 18 months. I then replaced the scoop with a mushroom type of through hull and do not need a gate to stop the flow of water like I needed when I had a scoop forcefeeding the system.

This is different from an emergency shut off, which you should always have right on the other side of the through hull in case of a ballast system catastrophe.
