I broke a belt last year and I took the remains to a autozone to get a new one. The number was to hard to read and they did the best they could to get me going again. Well the new belt is tight when the alt. is all the way in. No room, I was curious to know the stock belt size so I could put the correct one one and not have my pulleys in a bind. Any thoughts... its a 351 on my 92 190

I've had trouble with belts this past year too....the ones that hold my pants up. Are they making the sizes smaller now??? 8p

Thankyou, I really appreciate that. I'll feel more comfortable having a spare.

While it is the off season, remove the allenhead bolt from the bottom of the raw water pump bracket and slide the belt onto the bracket, replace the allenhead bolt and secure it to the bracket with cable ties. You won't have to remove the bolt on the lake in case the belt would break, just put it on the pulleys after loosening the alternator and then tighten down the alternator to the proper tension.
