Last Spring we sold at least 40 MDC boxes after folks de-winterized there boats. Our name was dropped onto another website, Cobia, Malibu, Moomba are to name a few. Probably a 1/3 went to MC Owners. Many of the issues where related to having them crack over the winter. Same of you may or may not know that water does make its way to those mystical boxes. Some of you may want to remove then reinstall in the spring. No big deal...2 screws, 1 plug and 2 speedo leads. A little preventative tip could save you a couple of hundred in the spring.

Thanks for the post, Jim. I was one of those who learned this the hard way last year; hopefully others won't have to....

Thrall If you still have your 96 LT-1 NO PROBLEMS

You X-2 has a PADDLE wheel...no problems there either

The boats that have the Medallion Guages w/ p/us on the back of the boat should be concerned.

This is NOT to create some kind of panic out there. Just a precautionary measure

Jim, what is an MDC box? Does a 91 PS 190 have one? Where is it located?

I still want to know what an MDC box is. From what you are describing, I think that the 2006 X-45 would have one?

So what it sounds like is that any boat with stepper motor gauges and no paddle wheel has this box, right?

So my '02 X9 has one?

If I'm not mistaken, it's only the boats that use pitot tubes for the speedos. The water pressure is directed through hoses to the MDC usually located under the dash. (maybe Jim can verify this)

IF your boat uses a paddlewheel for the speedo, you're ok.

Well that's a relief! (190 found a new home in Nebraska and the 06 X2 is not affected) Thanks Jim.
So to presume what boats have a MDC, MMDC, whatever, it's the boats with pitot pickups, and electronic speedo(s)....ie the "tweener" years between the old mech speedos and the new electronic ones with a paddle wheel.
Am I right? Which models are these? Early 2000's?

Thx Jim. Yep, I'm guilty and thx to Chuck for promptly getting me a new box following me pumping water into the old one. Hint: water and electrical components don't mix!
