Here is a recipe that UMP shared with me last year. It's his mother's recipe for eggnog. We made it over Thanksgiving and it was a big hit. Caution, the alcohol content is about 2 oz of 100 proof liquor per 8 oz. serving. It is delicious though.

Here it is:

1 Dozen eggs beat well

1qt MILK

2 cups Sugar beat well add

1 teasp vanilla

1 cup Jack Daniels

1cup 151 RUM

1 cup Brandy

Blend well enjoy and get a great buzz

If any left keep in fridge.

If there is any concern about the slight possibility of salmonella I asked a doctor friend of mine about it. He said:

1. According to the cdc, only about 1 in 20,000 eggs would contain salmonella.

2. 20% alcohol content (which I believe this has about 25%) is enough to kill any bacteria that might exist.

3. The eggs or the entire mix could be pasteurized if you were inclined.

I will say that after the first batch we cut the sugar in half for the second batch and could not notice any difference. I also chose to use regular bacardi 80 proof in order to keep it a little milder. Translating to 2 0z of 80 proof booze per cup.

Hope someone wants to try it. About 10 of us drank it and everyone liked it. Even those that don't drink hard alcohol.

Taking it to the Santa parade today!;)

Yes, heat slowly in a double boiler until the temp reaches around 160 iirc. Too warm or fast and you'll have scrambled eggnog.

2 batches yesterday and it was a big hit.

Just to be sure......is this brandy AND rum AND JD or should it read your choice of brandy or rum or JD? A cup of each seems like a pretty powerful mix (not that there's anything wrong with that).:D

In the words of Dave Attell:

"Eggnog is for when I want to get drunk, and I want pancakes!"

Don't worry, the wives are there too. It's her best friend, though we're all real close. (don't read into that...) And he likes to drink about as much as I do. So do the wives. That might explain why this is taking so long. I'm pretty sure we've spent more on Jack than we have on building materials to date.:D

A pint of moonshine, shaken feverishly, consumed quickly, will aid in consuming eggnog with anything in it, trust me, you won't care. You'll get the holiday spirit so severe, you'll fall in love with every Christmas tree you see!:D Also, tell all the neighbors to remove their wreaths from their front doors to!

We finished up our second batch last night....everyone enjoyed it. It certainly is smooth and can sneak up on you if you are not careful since it is soooo good.
