Anyone ever seen or heard of a waterski wrap for the top of a ski? I am sure I could find a graphic shop to do one...

I am thinking of buying a ski that has a painted aluminum top with some scratches... the ski is also fluorescent colors (it screams 1991) and I would like to update the look a little.

Thanks!

Spray paint it.

That's what we used to do to our old skiis and snowboards when I was in college and couldn't afford to get a newer one. At that point you play the "hey I'm too cool to want to promote some big company's crap by exposing their graphics" game.

Or maybe you will just look like somebody who painted their ski.

I don't want any names. Just a cool graphic design.

I've done some pretty wicked basement paint jobs on em with taped lines, shapes, all kinds of stuff.

Who knows, maybe you can get discovered as the next great sports equipment graphic artist. (How cool would THAT be)

You could also consider gluing stuff onto the top sheet.

I'm a big fan of Rob Zombie graphics right now. Not saying that it wouldn't break some sort of copy infringement thing.... but it would look cool.

Years ago, there was a company that made protective vinyl overlays for snow skis. Nothing pretty to look at (not unless clear's pretty to you). As for anything currently produced for this purpose, I'd be surprised if there was. I'm glad they still make boats for skiers.

Find some graffiti artists at work one night up at the train yard, they'll spray paint designs on anything and I think MC has one working for them now too.:D

Here is an old ICONN Sonic Carbon Ski that I re-painted for fun since I don't use it any more. I was shooting for the look of the old Gulf sponsored Ford GT40's from the 60's. I just taped off a small line of no paint so that you could see the carbon weave underneath.

Looks great, Neil! Always loved the Gulf Racing colors!

Does your tow vehicle look like this, too! :D

Nah, I prefer something like this. Of course, finding a drawbar with a 8 inch lift is a challenge.

my buddy's neighbor in Michigan had a custom made skin for his Monza ... a 40th anniversary skin that matched his 40th 197 ... i believe that is the site he used

Just talked to a buddy of mine down at the sign shop, and he said he would do custom wraps for 40 to 50 bucks if i would strip the ski. Gonna take mine after christmas.

Yeah I once traded some emails with Terry on this issue. Was hoping to be able to try one, but it is not currently in the budget. :D. Plus, the Nomads have raised letters on the top of the ski designed into the mold, so I dont know how well the vinyl with adhere. Anyone with experience with a Nomad?
